Vehicular flow on Jakarta-Cikampek toll road was high yet smooth and without traffic congestion from and to the Cikopo-Palimanan toll road 48 hours prior to the ban on homecoming exodus (mudik) before Eid al-Fitr 2021.

According to a report at the site, private cars and logistic trucks predominantly plied, with speeds averaging 60-80 kilometers per hour.

In addition, a coordinating post aimed at curbing the exodus flow has yet to be built by local officers at the West Karawang toll gate.

All vehicles -- private cars, buses, and motorbikes -- are banned from being utilized for the homecoming exodus on May 6-17, 2021.

If the public breaks the rules, the officer will impose a penalty under which the individuals will be directed to return home or face punishment as stipulated in the regulation.

The policy is issued to stem the spread of COVID-19 mostly spiking during the long holidays.

Although the government has strictly banned the homecoming exodus, some vehicles are still allowed to pass, such as vehicles for distributing logistics, working or business trip, visiting sick or died families, delivering pregnant women accompanied by one family member, and giving birth.  (Antaranews)
