The tourism potential of West Halmahera Regency will certainly spoil the tourists who come. To attract this interest, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenpar) provides support for the holding of the 2021 Jailolo Bay Festival (FTJ) with the theme "The Harmony of the Spice Island".
Deputy for Tourism Products and Events, Rizki Handayani explained that FTJ is a regional promotion event that is held consistently every year. FTJ was re-elected to be included in the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy as one of the 10 best events in the category of adaptation and innovation-based events, after three years in a row being included in the Calendar of Events of the Ministry of Tourism.
“The Jailolo Bay Festival is very interesting because the theme taken by localize raises the potential of West Halmahera's original tourism as an event to create a unique and memorable experience. Interestingly, this unique content can now be enjoyed online, as a form of innovation in the world of tourism events," said Rizki in his written statement.
He added that the implementation of this year's FTJ on June 9-12 2021 with the theme "The Harmony of the Spice Island" meant that the diversity of customs and cultures, ethnic, racial and religious differences in West Halmahera was reunited in harmony. to awaken the potential of the Spice Islands to become a leading global tourist destination.
The implementation of the FTJ 2021 this time is slightly different from the previous one because it is still in the era of a new life order during the COVID-19 pandemic. FTJ which is usually synonymous with crowds, currently in its implementation must follow the Hybrid Event concept, namely online and offline systems. The euphoria of the FTJ this time will not be the same as the previous FTJ, for that the public is advised to continue to apply the CHSE (Cleanliness, Healthy, Safety and Environment Sustainability) health protocol wherever they are, namely wearing masks, washing hands in running water and maintaining a safe distance from crowds.
The implementation of the Hybrid Concept is intended to limit offline audiences in order to reduce the number of crowds in the event venue area. The public or visitors can watch the FTJ without having to come to the venue but can also be online via a live streaming channel for the promotion of the Regency Tourism Office. West Halmahera.
On a separate occasion, the Head of the West Halmahera Regency Tourism Office who is also the Chairperson of the Daily Committee, Fenny Kiat explained that at the 2021 FTJ there will be a series of featured events that will be displayed. Among the famous ones is the Sigofi Ngolo Ritual, which is a traditional ceremony of cleaning the sea and sowing flowers which aims to ask permission from the ancestors for the smooth running of the event by the community by making a pilgrimage to Babua Island.
"Then what is no less interesting is the Seven Tribe Culinary Theater in Gamtala Village which offers culinary tourism education by displaying West Halmahera food ingredients accompanied by descriptions and live cooking of local people with online culinary maestro. There are also performing arts attractions that will showcase the cultural richness of the seven indigenous tribes of West Halmahera," he said.
In addition, he added, there were also Fun Diving, Dancing in the Sunset, Cultural Arts Performances, and Orom Sasadu at the Sasadu Traditional House in Gamomeng Village in order to express gratitude for the harvests obtained by the community.
