The COVID-19 Handling Task Force of Bogor District, West Java, reported that the bed occupancy rate (BOR) in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in Bogor District's hospitals had continued to decline.

"The BOR in ICUs now stands at 70 percent. It shows that the number is declining every day although not significantly," Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force of Bogor District Ade Yasin noted here on Sunday.

Yasin who is concurrently Bogor District Head pointed out that the BOR in ICUs had dropped from the previous week, during which the figure was still above 88 percent of the total available 157 ICU beds for COVID-19 patients.

She also highlighted a decrease to 61.49 percent in the hospital BOR for COVID-19 patients that was recorded at 77.51 percent in the previous week from a total of 1,971 beds.

In addition to the aforementioned BOR, Yasin pointed to a decrease in BOR also occurring at two COVID-19 patient isolation centers belonging to the Bogor District Government.

In the previous week, four beds out of a total of 60 in Cibogo were occupied; while now, all 60 beds are available. In Kemang, the number of occupied beds declined, from 37 in the previous week to 27 beds out of the 84 beds provided, she stated.

The district head is optimistic of a continued improvement in COVID-19 handling in Bogor District, so that the government could ease the enforcement of regulations of Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

Yasin admitted to being aware that the strict PPKM regulations would impact the district's economic conditions due to the limited mobility of residents.

"The enforcement of large-scale social restriction policies and restrictions on community activities has had an impact on the decline in production of goods and services, especially those that rely on the secondary and tertiary economic sectors," she pointed out. (Antaranews)
