President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Pasar Rumput low-cost apartment block (Rusunawa), with 1,984 residential units and also equipped with an integrated area covering access to market and transportation services, here, Monday.

"This Pasar Rumput Rusunawa was built at a cost of Rp970 billion. It is special because it was built in line with the 'mixed-use development' concept,'" President Jokowi remarked during his inauguration speech at the Pasar Rumput apartment block.

According to Jokowi, the Pasar Rumput Rusunawa is special, as hundreds of stalls are built on the first and second floor of the towers and has complete social and public facilities for the residents.

Jokowi noted that the market, replete with social and public facilities, made it easy for residents to conduct economic activities, for instance, trading.

The president stated that another feature of the Pasar Rumput Rusunawa was the access to transportation routes integrated with the TransJakarta services.

"The Pasar Rumput Rusunawa is also special, as it is supported by transportation routes that are very well integrated with the busway and the east-south interconnectivity to Dukuh Atas, thereby making it easier for residents to mobilize," he noted.

Jokowi is optimistic that with the presence of Pasar Rumput Rusunawa, the community will have decent and comfortable housing at a strategic location to conduct economic activities.

The president is also pleased that the Pasar Rumput apartments functioned to accommodate people affected by the normalization of the Ciliwung River for flood prevention purposes.

"Hopefully, these apartments would ease the burden on the community, especially to provide comfortable and affordable housing and help to facilitate the productive activities of our community," President Jokowi affirmed. (Antaranews)
