Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, Abdul Halim Iskandar, has said that innovation and technology are key for accelerating the pace of development in villages.

In 2019, there were 78,030 beneficial innovations and technologies that were applied as part of village development, Iskandar pointed out at the 22nd National Effective Technology Summit here on Monday.

The number includes 23,964 units of infrastructure, 31,031 units of entrepreneurship, and 23,032 units of human resource capacity development building, he said.

Effective technology is part of the 9th village sustainable development goal (SDG), which is to provide necessary village infrastructure and innovation, the minister remarked.

Village SDGs have 18 objectives with 222 indicators for fulfilling villagers' needs, and developing villages and village institutions, he highlighted.

Since 2021, the ministry has used the Village SDGs as an integrated tool to realize these purposes, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 59 of 2017 on Achieving Sustainable Development Goals, the minister said.

According to Iskandar, Village SDGs and development run on the principle of 'No One Left Behind'.

"The principle means a village development that does not leave a single person behind for them to not enjoy the results of advancement," the minister expounded.

He said an Rp2-trillion village budget has been allocated for 24,890 innovative villages.

"Those innovative villages are experiencing an increase in IDM (Village Development Index) faster," he noted.

The minister also said that the National Effective Technology event could push the equitable distribution of information technology.

"This event is a meeting place for inventors, creators, and technology innovators from various regions in the country," Iskandar remarked.

At the summit, he also presented an award to the winner of the 22nd National Effective Technology competition.

Meanwhile, Lampung province emerged as the common champion, and the award for the province was received by Governor Arinal Junaidi. (Antaranews)
