Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) RI Erick Thohir said his party had given a warning and warning to PT Pertamina (Persero) for the Balikpapan Refinery fire incident again for the second time.

An oil refinery owned by PT Pertamina Internasional caught fire, killing one person and seriously injuring four, on Sunday (15/5/2022).

"Actually, at that time, I tried to remind Pertamina, and even changed its directors. Of course changing is not a permanent solution," said Erick Thohir at Tennis Indoor Senayan Jakarta, Wednesday (18/5/2022).

Erick said he had contacted the board of directors and held a meeting.

"Yesterday I had a call from the Pertamina directors, I also had another meeting to make sure there was a standardization," said Erick.

Erick further admitted that he empathized with the victims of the factory fire.

"Frankly, I have great empathy for the victims, of course. This is the reason we have to do better," said Erick.

As is known, Erick Thohir reshuffled Pertamina's board of directors last year. (RRI)
