Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19, Prof. drh. Wiku Bakti Bawono Adisasmito, M.Sc., PhD., said that the seventh Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) in Badung took place safely, away from the spread of the virus.

According to Wiku, although it was carried out directly and attended by many participants from across countries, the participants implemented health protocols according to the procedures set by the Indonesian government. Including prokes compiled by the United Nations (UN).

"Especially for the GPDRR event, it has been carried out safely in five days," said Wiku in a virtual statement, Friday (27/5/2022).

Wiku hopes that as a result of this big event, the Government will be able to learn and be able to provide lessons in handling the pandemic in Indonesia.

"Behind the success of a large event in Indonesia, which is geographically prone to natural disasters, it is hoped that it will be able to provide lessons and learn about good and more resilient governance," he said.

Meanwhile, the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia received appreciation from the United Nations (UN). The President of the UN General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, conveyed this in his remarks at The 7th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) 2022 which was held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Badung Regency, Bali Province.

"We are all very happy to see Bali, come together today's face-to-face event on a large scale. I have been informed that around seven thousand participants have registered for today's meeting. This is a testament to the strong commitment and efforts made by the Indonesian government, under the leadership of Yang His Excellency President Joko Widodo to fight Covid-19 and return the country to a recovery path," said Abdulla Shahid.
