Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said the transmission of COVID-19 could be controlled if residents were disciplined to obey health protocols. The reason is, he explained, controlling the transmission of the Covid-19 virus is important to maintain the growth of the tourism business sector and the creative economy.

"We will boost it at the end of the year, hopefully the Indonesian tourists will return 100 percent," Sandiaga told reporters, Tuesday (14/6/2022).

"So we take the example before the pandemic or in 2019 and hopefully it can reach 50 to 70 percent for (proportion of) foreign tourists," he added.

To make this happen, continued Sandiaga, the public remains aware of the spread of the coronavirus with the Omicron BA4 and BA5 sub-variants.

"I say, we must always maintain the momentum of this revival by ensuring that our vigilance is in accordance with the government's directives," he said.

"How should we react to this new variant so that the pandemic remains under control. We hope that 1.1 million jobs will be created as part of our economic recovery," concluded Sandiaga. (RRI)
