Indonesian water sports athletes must be a mainstay because every region in Indonesia has great potential. This potential was seen by the General Chair of KONI Marciano Norman when he inaugurated the Indonesian Water Ski and Wakeboard Board (PB PSAWI) 2021-2025.

“Indonesia is a country that has extraordinary seas, so water sports must be a priority. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, we need to take advantage of our advantages in this water sport, so that we can be the best," said Marciano, Thursday (29/9/2022).

Marciano advised the new management to take advantage of Indonesia's favorable geography to develop water sports. PSAWI at the central and regional levels must 'pick up the ball' in capturing the seeds of outstanding athletes.

Marciano hopes that the budget will not become an obstacle for Indonesian children who have talent. PSAWI is expected to be able to maximize the potential of water skiing and wakeboarding which is closely related to the Sports Tourism program.

"Take advantage of Indonesia's natural beauty, where the flagship program Water Ski and Wakeboard can support Sports Tourism," said Marciano.

Chairman of PB PSAWI Danny Boestami said that his party was preparing for the Asian Championships. The championship will take place in Jakarta between September or October 2023.

“Our current board of directors is quite lean. But we promise that we will work to uphold sportsmanship,” said Danny.

Water Skiing will be one of the sports that will be competed at PON XXI 2024 in Aceh-North Sumatra. Previously, at PON Papua, this sport was abolished by the host. (RRI)
