The National Democrat (NasDem) Party has officially nominated outgoing Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan for the 2024 presidential race.

NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh personally announced the name of the party's presidential candidate at the NasDem Tower Ballroom here, Monday.

Following a long journey and contemplation, the NasDem Party finally decided to support Baswedan as a presidential candidate, Paloh stated.

"This is why NasDem finally looks at the figure of Anies Rasyid Baswedan. We have shared similar faith and thoughts in both macro and micro perspectives," he remarked.

According to Paloh, Baswedan is one of the best candidates.

"Why Anies Baswedan? The answer is why not the best," Paloh affirmed.

He urged the party's cadres to oversee Baswedan's candidacy in order to realize good governance.

On the occasion, Baswedan said he accepted the nomination from the NasDem Party.

"By seeking Allah's blessing, seeking guidance from Him, and with all humility, Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, we accept and are ready to respond to the challenge," he remarked.

The former education minister expressed readiness to continue what the government has achieved and to fix what is lacking.  (Antaranews)
