President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited the public, especially the elderly, to get the Covid-19 booster vaccination. This invitation was conveyed by the Head of State after he received a vaccination at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Thursday (24/11/2022).

"Today I have just been vaccinated with a booster. I invite the whole community, especially health workers, especially the elderly, and also people who have high interactions between communities," said the President in a press statement after receiving the booster vaccine.

The president explained that the type of vaccine he received was the Indovac vaccine. The Indovac vaccine is an original vaccine made in Indonesia.

"The vaccine used this morning is the Indovac vaccine. The product is 100 percent domestic," said the President.

The President said that until Thursday (24/11/2022) the number of first doses of vaccination that were injected into the public was 205 million doses. While the second dose was 172 million doses and for the first booster vaccine, 66 million doses had been injected.

"The second booster is still very small. (Just) 730 thousand doses of vaccine," said the President.

The President said the public needed a booster dose to maintain and break the chain of transmission of the virus. According to him, with booster vaccinations, people can be protected from the Sars-Cov2 virus and its various types of mutations.

"So that our immunity is maintained and we can stop the transmission of Covid-19 from person to person. This is the most important," he concluded.

The Ministry of Health stated that the second phase of booster vaccination for the elderly will begin in November 2022. This second booster vaccine has received Approval for Use in Emergency Conditions (EUA) from BPOM.

The second booster vaccine is given at intervals of six months after the first booster vaccination. This vaccination can be done by the elderly in healthcare facilities or at the Covid-19 vaccination service post. (RRI)
