Jakarta (voinews): Indonesia’s Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) and the Center for Liveable Cities (CLC) of Singapore’s National Development Ministry have agreed to collaborate to develop Indonesia’s future capital (IKN), Nusantara, as a liveable city.

OIKN Head Bambang Susantono and Singaporean National Development Minister, Desmond Lee, inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the collaboration in Singapore on Thursday.

The signing of the agreement was carried out on the sidelines of the leaders' retreat between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

In fact, the MoU was the first government-to-government (G-to-G) memorandum signed by the OIKN with the ministry of another country.

"Collaboration with various prominent institutions, such as the Center for Liveable Cities, will expedite the achievement of this goal (making Nusantara liveable) and make the IKN (an inclusive city) for all (people),” the head of OIKN remarked, according to a press release.

He said that OIKN will enter into a number of strategic collaborations with the CLC, such as strengthening knowledge sharing and capacity building, for realizing Nusantara as a liveable city.

"Since the beginning, IKN has not only been designed to become a green and liveable city, but also a city which is loved by its residents. Therefore, the IKN Authority continues to partner with liveable cities around the world, such as Singapore," he added.

According to the MoU, the cooperation will include the development of smart and green cities, integrated transportation and infrastructure, as well as resilient buildings and inclusive communities.

The two institutions will also collaborate in high-density urban areas planning, heat and humidity management, as well as mitigation and adaptation measures for urban planning and development.

On the same occasion, it was also announced that 20 companies from Singapore, such as Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel), have submitted letters of intent for investing in IKN. (Antaranews)
