Jakarta (voinews): The Manpower Ministry stated that India is keen to learn from Indonesia's success in organizing the G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) and Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting (LEMM).

They want to learn not just how to lead a session but also manage the activity in a way that leaves an impression, Ministry's Secretary General, Anwar Sanusi, noted through a statement on Thursday.

While conducting a bilateral meeting with Indian Labor and Employment Ministry's Labor Secretary Arti Ahuja in Geneva, he noted that India, as the current holder of the G20 presidency for 2023, is keen to take a cue from Indonesia that held it last year.

During the meeting, he echoed Indonesia's readiness to support and make India's G20 Presidency in 2023 a success, especially since Indonesia is serving as co-chair along with India and Brazil.

Indonesia supports the priority issues raised by India, specifically those related to the efforts to close the skills gap, social protection, empowerment of gig workers, and sustainable social insurance financing.

"What is more important is how we connect that theme raised by India with the theme in the Indonesia G20 presidency last year to promote continuity," he stated.

Last year, Indonesia's G20 Presidency produced five documents, and several of them are related to India's G20 presidency theme.

One of the issues is related to the development of human resources in the gig-platform economy.

"In any case, the gig-platform economy forces human resources to have sufficient capacity and capability, so that they can utilize this situation and even improve productivity," Sanusi remarked.

In terms of the gig economy, Indonesia also spoke about how to create an inclusive work market, specifically one that offers opportunities to disabled groups.

"Our allyship to the (disabled) groups must be a theme that should be raised," he affirmed. (Antaranews)
