VOInews, Jakarta: The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Jakarta successfully hosted the screening of the film "No Man's Land" at the Abdul Rahman Saleh Auditorium, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), on the evening of Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
The screening of the film directed by Danis Tanovic, was part of the "12 Days of Peace" diplomacy campaign, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia in collaboration with UN agencies in Sarajevo. The campaign aims to spread messages of peace and friendship across the globe.
Bosnia and Herzegovina's Ambassador to Indonesia, Armin Limo, explained that the film was chosen as a medium to strengthen the anti-war message and emphasize the importance of preserving peace in every corner of the world.
"One of the reason, one of the occasion to show the movie was the part of our public diplomacy campaign '12 Days of Peace,' organized by foreign ministry of Bosnia and UN offices in Sarajevo. So we send the message of peace, compassion, and friendship all over the world," said Armin Limo to Voice of Indonesia.
The screening was attended by over 60 invited guests, including 22 ambassadors, representatives from international organizations, and officials from Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The film garnered particular attention due to "No Man's Land" winning the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002. Its anti-war message is seen as highly relevant to the current global situation, which remains fraught with conflicts.
According to UN.org, the "12 Days of Peace" campaign, held from September 21 to October 2, coincides with the observance of International Day of Peace and International Day of Non-Violence. The campaign highlights the importance of building sustainable peace amidst the increasingly complex global conflicts.
"No Man's Land" is regarded as one of the most powerful cinematic works critiquing war, and its screening in Jakarta is hoped to inspire broader peace efforts both in Indonesia and internationally. "... definitely that is the message not to make any other war in any other part of the world."," concluded Armin Limo. (Daniel/voi)
