Voinews, Jakarta: Indonesia and Singapore reaffirmed their commitment to advancing clean energy investment and enhancing workforce capabilities during a meeting between Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr. Tan See Leng, in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/01). The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the energy and labour sectors.

Indonesia’s dedication to promoting clean energy is part of its strategy to address climate change challenges while pursuing sustainable economic growth. “The green energy transition requires a comprehensive framework for green growth policies, significant investment, and international collaboration as its core elements,” said Minister Airlangga. Singapore’s support through investments in clean and renewable energy projects has been welcomed as a positive contribution to Indonesia’s efforts.

Minister Airlangga also expressed appreciation for Singapore’s commitment to workforce development initiatives. This includes digital talent exchange programmes under the Tech X framework and other collaborative efforts to enhance the skills of workers in both nations. “Singapore will always be a strategic partner in supporting the workforce development programmes of both countries,” affirmed Minister Tan See Leng.

Singapore’s role as a key investor in Indonesia’s renewable energy projects is expected to accelerate the country’s green transition. The collaboration aims to utilise various investment facilities, ensuring both countries benefit from sustainable growth while meeting global environmental standards.

Minister Airlangga highlighted the importance of ongoing cooperation in workforce development and invited Singapore to strengthen existing initiatives further. “The partnership between Indonesia and Singapore in energy and labour development has already shown significant progress, and we must continue to build on this foundation,” he added.

This bilateral effort underscores the shared vision of Indonesia and Singapore to create a sustainable and skilled workforce while addressing pressing environmental challenges through clean energy investments.
