Indonesia condemned the terrorist act in the City of Nice, France, which resulted in three deaths and several injuries.

"Indonesia expresses deep sympathy and condolences to the victims and their families," said the statement released by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday.

Following the violence, the Indonesian Embassy in Paris and the Indonesian Consulate General in Marseille immediately coordinated with local officials and Indonesian citizens, including the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) to ensure the condition of Indonesian citizens.

"Until now, there is no information about any Indonesian victims in the attack," said the Foreign Ministry. There are 4,023 Indonesian citizens living in France, and 25 of them live in Nice and its surroundings.

The French government has increased the status of the highest security warning after an act of terror that killed a citizen in Nice, on Thursday (29/10).

Reuters reported that a woman was beheaded and two others died after being attacked by a suspected terrorist at a church in Nice.
Hours after the terror attacks in Nice, police shot dead a man suspected of threatening passersby with a pistol in Montfavet, near the city of Avignon, France.

According to Europe 1 radio station, the two perpetrators shouted: "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is Great) while carrying out an act of terror. On separate occasions, several media outlets reported that a Saudi Arabian man had been arrested by authorities in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after he attacked and caused a guard at the French Consulate to be injured.

After the beheading incident, the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, in his Twitter post, said the attack was an act of terror that had occurred at the Notre Dame Church and was the same as the attack in which Samuel Paty, a French teacher, died this month. (Antaranews)
