The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) invited a boycott of French products as President Emmanuel Macron still insisted on not apologizing to Muslims for his harassment of the Prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi wassalam (SAW).

"Boycotting all products originating from the French state and urging the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to exert strong pressure and warnings to the French Government," MUI Deputy Chairman KH Muhyiddin Junaidi told reporters in Jakarta, Friday.

He asked the Indonesian government to temporarily withdraw the Indonesian ambassador in Paris, France, until President Macron withdrew his words and apologized to Muslims around the world for making "Islamophobic" statements.

Muhyiddin said Muslims do not want to make enemies but only want to live side by side in peace and harmony.

The Vice Mayor of MUI also asked the President of France to immediately stop all acts of humiliation and harassment of the Prophet Muhammad, especially the UN Human Rights Commission said that insulting the Prophet was not a form of freedom of expression.

He also supports the position of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which has boycotted French products.

"Urge the European Union Court to immediately take action and punish France for the actions and attitudes of President Emmanuel Macron who have insulted and insulted the Great Prophet Muhammad," said Muhyiddin Junaidi.(antaranews)
