A number of health workers such as doctors, nurses, and pharmacists were jabbed with Covid-19 vaccine at the lobby of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (13/1/2021).

One of the health workers, a midwife Dr. Ade Zubaedah expressed gratitude for receiving the Covid-19.

"I got the chance to be vaccinated first and hopefully this will be a motivation for all midwives to be vaccinated," said Ade Zubaedah who served as Secretary-General of the Indonesian Midwives Association in a YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday (13/1/2021).

She invited all midwives throughout Indonesia to get vaccinated.

"Likewise for the community, don't be afraid to be vaccinated," she said.

In addition to health workers, the Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro also took part in vaccinations at the Merdeka Palace.

"I will be vaccinated by a female vaccinator," she explained.

Around 1.5 million doctors, nurses, midwives, and other health workers were the first to get the Covid-19 vaccine before the rest of the public.

Chairperson of the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and Economic Recovery Erick Thohir said health workers are at the forefront of handling Covid-19 and have the highest risk of being exposed because they have to interact directly with the community.

"They should be vaccinated first, injected first, because they are heroes. Therefore, if the raw materials can be produced, they will become a priority," said Erick in a virtual press conference, Thursday (3/9/2020). (RRI)
