Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, who was also present at the meeting between the OIC Foreign Ministers and the French president in Paris, France, said that the OIC foreign ministers hoped that France would use its influence on other countries not to apply double standards to the Palestinian case.
"The (OIC) foreign ministers hope that France will use its influence on other countries not to apply double standards to the Palestinian case. The OIC foreign ministers again emphasized the importance of ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian assistance," said Retno Marsudi in a statement received on Wednesday (23/11/2023) in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, in a meeting with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna, further discussions were discussed regarding the hopes of the ministers regarding the need for a stronger and more comprehensive UN Security Council resolution, especially regarding the issue of humanitarian assistance. The OIC also expected French support for the resolution.
France was the last country visited by the OIC foreign ministers and the Secretary General of the Arab League. Previously, the OIC Foreign Ministers had visited China, Russia, and the UK to gather support for a ceasefire and the importance of upholding international humanitarian law in the Palestine-Israel conflict.
