VOInews, Aceh : The Indonesia Reading Movement or abbreviated as GIM is a program that aims to promote the importance of reading as the main capital in improving society's literacy culture.

GIM includes a number of major activities that involve the community, such as One Book Week, Read A Loud, Empowered Reading Ambassadors with Books, and Regional Writing Based on Local Content.

"The Indonesia Reading Movement supports strengthening literacy through schools and communities. This is what we are synergizing with many parties," explained the Head of the Center for Library Analysis and Reading Culture Development of the National Library, Nurhadisaputra at the GIM campaign and socialization in Aceh, Monday, (20/5/ 2025).

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Monday (20/5/24), Literacy skills are the main basis for students in understanding student learning. Through reading, students are trained to analyze, understand, reflect on the results of the reading.

In Aceh, you can find many coffee shops or cafes which are busy with young people. That's why they need an alternative place so that they don't spend most of their time hanging out.

"We are actively promoting the Aceh provincial public library as a reading mall. This is done so that people want to come while on a knowledge tour," concluded the Head of the Aceh Provincial Library Service, Edi Yandra//VOI
