Coinciding with the National Batik Day on October 2, 2024, the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Caracas in collaboration with Canting Club Venezuela held a batik  class for the Venezuelan community at the Hall of the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas. The activity which was attended by 25 participants aims at introducing batik as one of the identities of the Indonesian nation to the Venezuelan people  as well as strengthen diplomatic relations in the field of culture between Indonesia and Venezuela. The activity was opened by Indonesian Ambassador to Caracas,  Imam Edy Mulyono and Angela Mata as a batik teacher.

Ambassador Imam  in his remarks conveyed that batik is a combination of art and culture that is very global. One of the efforts of the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas to promote batik this year is to invite four batik fashion designers in a bid  to showcase their work through a fashion show in Caracas in May 2024. Ambassador Imam Edy Mulyono hopes that through this activity friendship and cooperation between Indonesia and Venezuela is getting closer.

This batik class will be held throughout October 2024  and will be divided into eight classes. In these classes,  the participants will be introduced to the history of batik, batik making methods  and the process of making batik  from drawing to becoming a beautiful batik artwork. At the end of the activity, the batik participants are expected to exhibit their work in one of the museums in Caracas to be widely enjoyed by the local community.
