Sea Transport Directorate General of Transportation Ministry ensured the logistic shipment program through sea toll will run during the new normal. One of the strategies is using Logistic Communication System (LCS). That was stated by Sea Traffic and Transport Director of Sea Transport Directorate General Captain Wisnu Handoko in Jakarta on Sunday  (May31).

According to Wisnu Handoko, LCS developed by Telkom will keep being updated so that it can help and facilitate people in accessing various information, from ship schedule, ship position tracking, container availability, shipping order, manifest and delivery cost, depart and return cargo shipping statistics, to staple and important goods price.

Besides that, cargo data with Logistic Communication System -LCS will be tighter, so it can avoid procedure deviations of sea toll program. He explained further, shipment regulation will be tightened up by registration with ID card and Tax Identification Number.

Further, Wisnu Handoko explained, in ship cargo and space information, they will facilitate business order process, container shipment, transparency of logistic cost standardization and staple & important goods price disparity. Besides minimizing physical contact, it also aims to trigger healthy competition because businesspeople will see each other’s prices. Businesspeople must upload their service cost.

Transportation Ministry hoped the sea toll logistics during new normal can be used by inter-island staple and important goods traders to increase further shipment volume in fulfilling regions’ demand.

According to Wisnu Handoko, Transportation Ministry very appreciates some regional heads who had proved their commitment to ship return cargo of region’s products through sea toll. The cargo mostly contained fish, wood, copra, and many more. Furthermore, Wisnu Handoko explained, State Logistics Agency Bulog and Trade Ministry ensured to ship rice, sugar, cooking oil, flour, and many others to various regions by using the sea toll ships.

While during Covid-19 pandemic, cargo ship and special sea transport ship are permitted to operate by implementing health protocol and passenger restriction criteria under tighter supervision.
