The Ministry of Industry is actively coordinating with the regional governments to jointly monitor the activities of the industrial sector amid the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. Director General of Resilience, Regional and International Industrial Access (KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry, Dody Widodo, on Sunday (June7) said that this monitoring aims to keep the economy run smoothly and ensure companies comply with health protocols. Dody Widodo said that the regional government had an important role in preventing and controlling Covid-19.

The manufacturing industry sector is ready to enter a new normal period, to restore the national economy. Moreover, the manufacturing industry is one of the main driving sectors for economic growth. The Ministry of Industry notes, the industrial sector is still the biggest contributor to the structure of the national gross domestic product (GDP) of up to 19.98 percent in the first quarter of 2020. Industrial activity provides a broad multiplier effect for the economy, through an increase in the value added of raw materials, revenue foreign exchange from exports, and employment. Therefore, in order to prevent the spread of the corona virus, industrial businesses that have obtained operating licenses, are required to implement health protocols for all employees, such as maintaining distance, wearing masks, and living clean and healthy. This is in accordance with the rules contained in Circular Letter of the Minister of Industry No. 4 of 2020 concerning Implementation of Factory Operations in the Covid-2019 Public Health Emergency Period.

Dody Widodo said, during the Covid-19 pandemic, operated industrial companies or estates are required to have an Operational Permit and Industrial Activity Mobility (IOMKI), which is stipulated in Circular Letter of the Minister of Industry No. 7 of 2020.

He said the Ministry of Industry continues to make synergy steps with all relevant stakeholders, so that the industrial sector can run in accordance with the implementation of the health protocol. The collaboration involves local governments, to form a monitoring team.

The tasks of the monitoring team include holding coordination with local governments, verifying IOMKI data and information. In addition, the monitoring team also supervise the implementation of IOMKI directly or electronically, recommending the revocation of IOMKI to the Minister of Industry, and evaluating the results of supervision regarding the implementation of IOMKI.
