Kei Islands are located in the south peninsula of the Bird's Head of Irian Jaya, west area of Aru Islands and northeast of the Tanimbar Islands, Maluku province. The Kei Islands consist of two main islands, Kei Kecil and Kei Besar. Both are in Southeast Maluku Regency, with the capital city of Langgur. Southeast Maluku has 119 islands. By having 119 islands, Kei can be recommended to be a tourism destination for people who love marine tourism. To travel to Kei, you can take an airplane from Ambon City to Karel Sadsuitubun International Airport on the island of Kei Kecil. Traveling to the Kei Islands, you can enjoy various tourism objects. One of them is Ngurbloat Beach located in Ngilngig Village, Southeast Maluku Regency.
Ngurbloat Beach is located in Ngilngig Village, Southeast Maluku Regency. Ngur in Kei local language means sand. The beach is beside it, about 18 kilometers from Langgur, the capital of Southeast Maluku. Due to its location facing west, this beach is an appropriate place to witness sunsets. The beach stretches for 3 kilometers; that’s why, this beach is also known as Pasir Panjang Beach. The sand is so smooth and soft as National Geographic dubs it as “ the beach with the softest sand in Asia.” The sea is declivious and shallow. You don't need to be afraid to swim there because the waves have already broken at a distance of 100 meters from the land. If the water recedes, the shallow area transforms into a white desert.
If you are in Ngurbloat beach, you can also observe from a far distance how local fishermen throw their nets. This becomes an interesting sight to be looked at. The best time to visit Ngurbloat Beach is between April-May and October-December, because during those months, the waves are relatively calmer and the climate is pleasant. Several lodgings such as villas and bungalows with rates of about Rp 500 thousand per night can be found along the coast.
