Luhut Says Omicron Cases in Java-Bali is Under Control

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment who is also the Coordinator of the Java-Bali PPKM Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the transmission case of the Omicron Covid-19 variant in Java-Bali is currently under control.

According to him, the number of Covid-19 cases has decreased by 97 percent from the peak of the third wave and even a significant decline has occurred in the last three months.

"The condition and situation of the Covid-19 pandemic to this day is also in very good condition. When viewed nationally in less than 3 months, daily cases have decreased very sharply to 97 percent of the peak cases caused by the Omicron variant," he said. Luhut in a press statement 'PPKM Evaluation' virtually, Monday (4/4/2022).

He added, that the number of active cases also decreased by 83 percent. Currently, there are less than 100,000 active Covid-19 cases.

"Another thing that illustrates that the condition of the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 variant is quite good, is from the decrease in hospitalizations by up to 85 percent. The hospital bed occupancy rate is currently only 6 percent, and the positivity rate is below the WHO standard of 4 percent. The number of people who died also fell sharply to 88 percent compared to the peak of Omicron cases last year," he added.

According to him, the decline in Covid-19 cases in Java-Bali has had a positive impact at the regional assessment level.

Luhut also explained that currently, as many as 93 percent of the regions in Java-Bali have PPKM Level 1 and Level 2. In addition, in Java and Bali currently, there are no regions with PPKM Level 4 status.

"Detailed information regarding this matter will be explained in the Home Affairs Ministerial Instruction which will be issued this afternoon," he said. (RRI)
