Some mediators from the US, Qatar, and Hamas gathered in Cairo, Egypt on Sunday (3/3) to continue the talk of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Those mediators gave a new push for the ceasefire in Gaza, but there were still disagreements. Meanwhile, the battle is still raging in the hunger-stricken Palestine.

AFP reported that the nation delegates and related parties gathered in Cairo to discuss the latest effort to achieve a six-week ceasefire in Gaza. This was expected to be realized before Ramadan in the Islamic calendar, which was predicted to be on March 10, 11, and 12. At that time, every Muslim in the world, including most people in Gaza, would be fasting for a month. Those mediators were trying to improve aid support and exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian hostages. But problems persisted, including Hamas's demand that all Israeli forces leave the Gaza Strip. Israel so far announced there is no plan to join in the Egypt negotiation, and demanded Hamas to give the list of 130 remaining Israeli prisoners, including more than 30 people who were worried to be already dead.

Meanwhile, the US – a well-known Israeli supporter – started to send aid to Gaza. On Saturday, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced the shipping of 66 packages containing 38,000 various foods using military aircraft along with the Jordan Air Force. According to Centcom, the US also planned another support shipping mission.

The ceasefire negotiation in Cairo must be encouraged so that the war could be stopped, although – based on the current target – only for six weeks. The ceasefire is important so that the humanitarian aid that the Palestinians desperately need can be brought into the war zone.

The temporary ceasefire would also allow a long-term peace negotiation and the two-state solution.

Total victims from Palestine, surpassing 30 thousand casualties and more, must be a motivator so that the negotiation in Cairo could immediately realize the ceasefire.
