VOInews, Jakarta: The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Sydney, Australia held the Indonesian Festival by the Harbour on Saturday (25/11/2023) at Circular Quay, an iconic area of Sydney.

Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana in his speech hoped that the festival, which was attended by more than 4 thousand visitors, would become an annual agenda in Sydney so as to promote culture and increase investment between the two countries.

 

"I hope that this Indonesian festival can become one of the annual agendas in Sydney, and can promote not only Indonesian culture, but also Indonesia's trade, investment and tourism potential and further strengthen the Indonesia-Australia friendship," Consul General Vedi said in a statement from the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney on Sunday (26/11/2023) received in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, one of the Indonesian diaspora visitors, Emma Manurung, expressed her pride in witnessing the Indonesia by the Harbor festival.

"This promotional event is very good and memorable, hopefully next year we can witness this event again, it's really proud," she said.


The Indonesia by the Harbor Festival showcased a variety of Indonesian cultures, ranging from archipelago dances, traditional music performances, to silat and fashion shows. In addition, the Festival also pampered the palate with Indonesian culinary delights such as nasi bungkus, cendol, batagor, and mi kocok, curing the longing of the Indonesian citizens and diaspora who attended.

The event was made even more special by the appearance of Indonesian actresses Acha Septriasa, Melody Septania, and Acha Sinaga who now reside in Australia. The three of them participated in the Batik Chic fashion show.

The elegance and charm of Acha Septriasa, Melody Septania, and Acha Sinaga in demonstrating batik clothing not only enlivened the festival, but also succeeded in drawing the attention of Australians to the beauty and richness of Indonesia.

VOINews.id, Jakarta: Member of the Indonesian People's Representative Council/House of Representatives (DPR), Eriko Sotarduga said that the electronic voting system for the Indonesian general election had been eagerly awaited by the Indonesian diaspora. For this reason, he invited the public, especially Generation Z youths, to ensure that the role of technology in e-voting can guarantee the people's vote.

VOINews.id, Jakarta: Indonesia won 4 trophies, 10 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals at the 31st ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) on 16-25 November 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.

 

"The ten gold medals came from three gold in individual competitions, four gold in team competitions, and three gold in team exhibitions," wrote the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday (25/11/2023).

 

The competition was attended by 200 shooters from 10 countries in Southeast Asia: Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The branches being competed are rifle, carbine, automatic rifle, men's pistol, and women's pistol.

 

Aside from that, in the individual competition, positive results were achieved in the men's pistol which managed to sweep all three medals contested by the 40 shooters. The women's pistol also made achievements by winning 1 gold and 1 silver. In the rifle branch, Indonesia added 1 gold and 1 bronze medal.

 

"With these results, Indonesia confirmed itself as the overall champion and replaced Vietnam as the defending champion in last year's competition," wrote the embassy.

 

Meanwhile, Vietnam is chasing closely in second place with 1 trophy, 10 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze. The Philippines followed in third place with 1 trophy, 10 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze. Following the Philippines in sequence are Myanmar, Laos, the host Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

 

AARM is an Army shooting competition event between ASEAN countries which is held annually. At the 31st AARM, Indonesia fielded 45 participants from the army soldiers and 2 (two) supporters from the state-owned armament company Pindad.

 

In general, Indonesia has proven itself to be the hegemon among ASEAN countries by becoming the overall champion 14 times out of a total of 31 AARM events that have been held since 1991.
