VOINews, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the government will make corrections in the event of any deficiencies uncovered in the Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Bekasi Light Rail Transit (Jabodebek LRT) project.
After a trial ride on the LRT train from Harjamukti LRT Station, Depok, on Thursday, Jokowi explained that the light rail project is the first project in Indonesia, like the mass rapid transit (MRT) and the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.
"Thus, if there are deficiencies, things that need to be corrected, it is normal," he remarked at the Dukuh Atas LRT Station, Jakarta.
The president called on all parties to not immediately expect the LRT to be a perfect project, as system and other technical improvements would be conducted.
He affirmed that the government would ensure the safety and comfort of people while riding the LRT to become the central aspect. He also emphasized that the schedule for operating the LRT for the public would not be rushed.
Jokowi explained that the LRT project is carried out by the domestic industry. The project's domestic component level is more than 60 percent.
The LRT trains are produced by state-owned train manufacturer PT INKA Persero and the LRT infrastructure construction is handled by state-owned construction company PT Adhi Karya Persero Tbk (ADHI).
He expressed optimism that traffic congestion in Jakarta and the satellite cities would reduce after the LRT is operated. He noted that LRT will not only be operated on the Cibubur line but also towards Bekasi and Tangerang.
The president also stated that the Dukuh Atas LRT Station will also become a meeting point for MRT, commuter rail, airport trains, and Transjakarta buses.
The Jabodebek LRT uses more advanced technology as compared to the Jakarta MRT and South Sumatra LRT, namely Grade of Automation (GoA) Level 3.
The technology enables the trains to be operated without a driver and regulates the distance between trains to be closer while constantly maintaining a safe distance.
A series of tests has been conducted since 2022 and been more intensive in May 2023. The trial operation of the Jabodebek LRT is being conducted from July 12 until August 2023. (Antaranews)
Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry's (Kemendikbudristek's) Secretary General Suharti stated that four aspects of "Merdeka Belajar" (Freedom to Learn), starting from basic learning to technology utilization, have been able to inspire ASEAN countries.
"Since 2019, Indonesia has entered a new paradigm in which technology plays a role as a driving force for transformation in the education system," she noted in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday.
The four aspects of Freedom to Learn are a commitment to basic learning, support for teaching skills, focus on specific groups, and the utilization of technology to enhance and accelerate progress.
Suharti affirmed that those four aspects had assisted the government in overcoming educational challenges, including those caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the Second Regional Meeting on Roadmap on Declaration on Digital Transformation of Education Systems in ASEAN, in Surabaya, Suharti stated that the Freedom to Learn movement has the main focus of overcoming the learning crisis.
The Freedom to Learn Program also encourages an education system that creates lifelong learners, who are competent and reflect the profile of Pancasila students.
Freedom to Learn Movement presents a fun learning experience and empowers students to explore.
Meanwhile, teachers are trained to be more efficient in working with school principals to create the best curriculum according to school characteristics and the students' needs.
"Among the four aspects of Freedom to Learn, we started by establishing a national assessment as a form of implementation of the first priority," she remarked.
Through National Assessment, Kemendikbudristek encourages learning that focuses on mastery of knowledge and not on exams.
Assessment instruments in the National Assessment include cognitive abilities, input, and processes involved in learning, such as learning quality, principal leadership, teacher perceptions, risk of violence, bullying, and intolerance.
"Along with the assessment reform, we are changing the curriculum to focus more on depth rather than breadth of knowledge, so that fewer topics are covered but (there is) more meaningful engagement in class," she remarked.
The second priority is to support teaching skills by changing pre-service teacher education from theory-oriented to practical orientation.
In addition, teachers receive practical training and teaching experience and form a learning community to ensure peer support that encourages the birth of creative learning ideas.
Furthermore, the third priority is intervention to support the needs of schools, teachers, and students, namely the provision of additional tutoring by sending students to teach through the Freedom to Learn Campus Merdeka policy.
Regarding the policy of providing grants, Kemendikbudristek offers more funds for schools in remote areas, so they can meet their logistical needs and procure learning tools.
The fourth priority in the Freedom to Learn movement is the use of technology in improving and accelerating the progress of learning.
As a first step, Kemendikbudristek ensures useful and sustainable digital transformation in the education sector by capturing, integrating, and utilizing data that has been collected.
Thereafter, regional stakeholders, such as schools and technical implementation units (UPT), collect and validate the data before further use as a basis for creating and developing digital platforms.
Several platforms launched by Kemendikbudristek to support the improvement of the quality of learning include Merdeka Teaching, Education Report Cards, Belajar.id, and the Merdeka Campus platform.
"Digital transformation through the Freedom to Learn movement can strengthen the education ecosystem in Indonesia and inspire ASEAN member countries," Suharti remarked. (Antaranews)
VOINews, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor assessed that cooperation between the government, employers, and employees is essential in building harmonious, dynamic, and just industrial relations within a company.
Noor, in his statement here on Thursday, stated that harmonious industrial relations would encourage businesses to develop and boost investment, create jobs, and improve the quality of life of employees and their families.
"These can be achieved if the working conditions' regulation in the company can accommodate the interests of employers, employees, and the government," he stated at the Technical Training on Company Regulations Creation and Education on Procedures for Negotiating and Making Collective Agreements in Bogor, Wednesday.
He remarked that the interests of employers, employees, and the government can be accommodated through company regulations or collective agreements, among others.
According to Noor, company regulations and collective agreements have a role and function in guaranteeing the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees, serving as tools to improve the welfare of employees and their families, and serving as instruments in resolving employees' complaints.
Furthermore, they regulate the implementation of work relations between employers and employees as well as between employees in addition to realizing peacefulness in working and doing business.
Information on company regulations made by employers and collective agreements made by trade unions and employers that have been ratified and registered should be disseminated to all workers, so that they are known and understood and disputes between parties could be avoided.
Nevertheless, in the event of disputes or differences in interpretation regarding the implementation of the regulations and agreements, the settlement must prioritize peace discussion, increase bipartite communication, and prioritize win-win solutions over personal or group interests.
"Try never to involve anyone in solving a problem, because, of course, outsiders will only make the problem more complicated," he stated.
He advised employers to maintain harmony and peace in their companies by continuing to pay attention to the trade union and employees, so that their lives are prosperous.
Noor called on employees and trade unions to continue to improve their skills and boost their competence through reskilling and upskilling. (Antaranews)
