A total of 35 gold medals are up for grabs in 10 sports branches on day 11 of the Asian Games 2018 being co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra Province, on Wednesday.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi and Senegalese National Development Planning Minister Syeikh Kante agreed to encourage economic cooperation and promote moderate Islam during their meeting here on Monday.

"Indonesia warmly welcomes the first Islamic international conference on Islamic economic policies to be held in Senegal and is ready to share its experiences during the conference," Marsudi said at the Pancasila Building in the Foreign Ministry compounds.

The conference will be held in Senegal on Sept 13, 2018. Some two thousand ulemas from Senegal and neighboring countries are expected to take part in the conference aimed at promoting moderate Islamic values.

Indonesian is invited to take part in the conference in the capacity as the world`s largest Muslim country which promotes moderate Islamic values, protects women`s rights, has full tolerance, and encourages cooperation to support state development.

At the meeting, Marsudi warmly welcomed Senegal`s plan to reopen its embassy in Jakarta to enhance relations between the two nations.

During his stay in Indonesia, from Aug 27 to 30, Kante will also meet Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan; Industry Minister Airlangga Hartato; representatives from state construction company PT WIKA and Eximbank Indonesia; Indonesian Ulemas Council; and the president`s special envoy for dialogs and cooperation between religion and civilization. Indonesian President Joko Widodo discussed the problem of the country's economic growth with entrepreneurs from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). President Joko Widodo wants all parties not only to focus on the economic growth, but also on its quality. President Joko Widodo in his introduction when meeting businessmen from Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (27/8) said uncertainty has made the world economic condition even more uncertain. In fact, according to the president, the World Bank President Jim Yong Kim also could not advise and predict Indonesia's economic growth prospects and the global economic situation in general. President Jokowi said, Indonesia's biggest problem is currently still in the current account deficit. The government, will fix the current account deficit that has long been untouched. Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai held a "Charity Bazaar for Lombok". The event which took place last weekend on the Arch Walk Mall, was held in collaboration with the Shanghai Charity Foundation, Changning, Sinar Mas Group and the Indonesian Citizens Association in Shanghai. Acting Indonesian Consul General in Shanghai, Nidya Kartikasari to RRI World Service Voice of Indonesia’s contributor Kevin Zhao explained, the purpose of the Charity Bazaar for Lombok was to raise funds for the earthquake victims in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province. He explained, the implementation of activities scheduled to take place until September was an initiative of Indonesian people in Shanghai.

 

"The purpose of this event is actually to raise funds for Lombok. This is an initiative of Indonesian community in Shanghai. The aim is in addition to helping those who are affected by the earthquacke in Lombok, it is also to establish solidarity among citizens in Shanghai. Luckily we are supported by companies in Shanghai. Not only that, but there is also APP, with various companies and communities, the Indonesian Moto-Moto Community, churches, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan, all of them are united for Lombok today," Nidya Kartikasari said.

Nidya Kartikasari revealed that Indonesian Consultae General in Shanghai facilitated the charity bazaar, assisted by the Shanghai Charity Foundation and Arch Walk Mall owned by an Indonesian company. All sales from the charity sales will be donated to the people affected by the earthquake and to purchase medical facilities. (VOI/Kevin Zhao/AHM)
