The Government of Indonesia hopes that Morocco can immediately follow up the discussion on Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Indonesia and Morocco. This was conveyed by Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita when meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco Mounia Boucetta on the sidelines of Indonesia-Africa Forum 2018 in Nusa Dua Bali.
According to Enggartiasto Lukita, he believes, Morocco has a common view with Indonesia which assumes that PTA will have a positive impact for the economic development of both parties. He said Indonesia and Morocco are among the liaison countries that have an important role in maintaining economic growth, both in the region and in the world.
"That is the first with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco. The talks followed up the agreements that had been made during the trade expo last year represented by the Moroccan ambassador in Indonesia. There are some things that are delivered and soon we will follow up that we expect them to be able to start discussing the PTA draft that we have to convey to them. When viewed from the spirit they will follow up. Because the trade is not just from us to Morocco and they are well aware. Morocco is just like us with Chile. So it functions as a hub. We export to Morocco, Morocco will enter the African market, "Enggartiasto Lukita said.
Furthermore, Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita conveyed in his meeting with Morocco's Deputy Foreign Minister, he also received an invitation to participate in a trade mission in Morocco which is scheduled to be held at the end of June. Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and the launching of Road to Africa book on the sidelines of Indonesia Africa Forum on Tuesday in Nusa Dua Bali. Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said she welcomed the launch of the book to provide a map of direction in identifying the potential for developing trade cooperation between Indonesia and countries of the African continent.
The Finance Minister said Indonesia needed new efforts to improve competitiveness and productivity to spur higher and more equitable economic growth.
She hopes that the launch of the Road to Africa book will become an early stub which will be further refined, so that the people of Indonesia and all parties can find the best potential to enhance trade relations with Africa.
"This is a great initiative. As we know that to be able to increase Indonesia’s economic growth to be more equitable and inclusive, it is our role to encourage investment and exports. We may need to put more emphasis on competitiveness and productivity and start to enter new markets and commodities. The book Road to Africa can provide a map that can be used by all parties, especially private sector. And by LPEI to identify potentials of commodities as well as targeted markets," Minister Retno said.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati further said she hoped that Road to Africa book could be developed by involving many parties including academic community. She said the development was done to not only identify export potential but also market development efforts.
She also hopes that the Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI) can use its instruments to support export interest and potential, so that Indonesian companies increasingly get the convenience to reach the market in Africa. (VOI/Andy/AHM)
Indonesia has huge maritime economic potential worth around 1.3 trillion US Dollars which 91% of it has not been managed maximally. Assistant Deputy of Law and Maritime Agreement, Deputy of Maritime Sovereignty Coordination, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime, Budi Purwanto, said this potential provides huge opportunities for young generation to run their business in maritime sector. Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs in cooperation with Awsome Consulting held for the first time, Young Entrepreneurs Maritime Symposium on Tuesday, April 10 in Jakarta. According to Budi Purwanto, the symposium will increase the knowledge of young generation on maritime sector, and it is in line with the vision of the government to realize Indonesia as a maritime axis of the world. He said through this symposium, the younger generation will get information on maritime-related policies.
“So this is a very important meeting that really needs to be developed as a forum for the younger generation to know the maritime sector. There is something we want to know that our mission can return to the maritime world. The government provides a positive forum to give young people a chance to get closer,” Budi Purwanto said.
Budi further explained the participants of the symposium consisted of young generations from various region in Indonesia. The speakers are from the government, defense, entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations, and banking. Budi pointed out, young businesses can do business in the field of waste processing. Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Marshall Yuyu Sutisna at the commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of the Indonesian Air Force at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Monday (09/04) stated that the Indonesian Air force continuously observe international development with its complex challenges. Therefore Yuyu Sutisna said fulfillment of modern main weaponry system is a must.
“The Indonesian Air Force is at the last 2 years of the third strategic plan (2015-2019) and the Minimum Essential Force policy of the 2nd phase of strategic plan. The Indonesian Air Force keeps trying to complete the procurement of Air Force main weaponry system such as jet fighters replacing F5 jet figthers, multipurpose amphibious aircrafts, carrier aircraft , carrier helicopters, drones, air strike radars, air strike resistance as well as facilities and other infrastructures,” Yuyu Sutisna said.
Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Marshall Yuyu Sutisna explained in the 4th strategic plan, the Indonesian Air Force keeps building air power by replacing Hawk jet fighters 100/200 with Tankers and Awacs aircrafts, radar procurement and building Network Centric Warfare. Yuyu further said the 4th strategic plan will make the position of the Air Force to be more professional military with equipment and up-to-date main weaponry system which can be deployed everywhere and anytime.
