Indonesian Ambassador to Namibia, Wisnu Edi Pratignyo, during a series of visits in Angola, met with Angola's Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen Sacramento Neto, on Thursday (25/7). They exchanged views on opportunities to work on bilateral cooperation in the fisheries sector. As quoted by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Windhoek on Friday (26/7), Ambassador Wisnu in his meeting with Minister Carmen pointed out that the Indonesian Government has provided development cooperation assistance grants in the form of inland fisheries training to friendly countries in Africa, including Angola. The training will increase the capacity of Angolan fisheries experts.
Realizing the positive benefits of the grant assistance, Minister Carmen decided to send two fisheries experts to attend the training held in September 2024.
Minister Carmen conveyed that fisheries training is very useful to improve expertise and create new experts in the field of fisheries. Furthermore, Minister Carmen also conveyed other areas of cooperation that can be worked on together with Indonesia, including the development of the aquaculture value chain and handling illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
The fisheries cooperation between Indonesia and Namibia can be followed up through a memorandum of understanding. In addition, fisheries cooperation is also expected to be carried out between educational institutions or fisheries training centers. Ambassador Wisnu further explained that Indonesia welcomes and will immediately follow up on opportunities for fisheries cooperation with Angola. The Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek will coordinate with the Indonesian Honorary Consul in Angola to work on the cooperation.
This weekend edition of Miscellany presents another achievement of Indonesian youth on the world stage. Student choir of the Sebelas Maret State University Solo (UNS), Voca Erudita, won five awards in the International Choir Competition at the Musica Orbis Prague Festival in Prague, Czech Republic on Saturday (29/6/2024), and the 58th Internationaler Chorwettbewerb in Spittal an der Drau, Austria, on Friday (5/7/2024), and Saturday (6/7/2024). She Erudita emerged as Champion Folklore Repertoire (Mixed Choir), Champion Sacred Repertoire (Mixed Choir), and Grand Champion at the Musica Orbis Prague Festival. Meanwhile, at the 58th International Chorwettbewerb competition in Spittal an der Drau, Carinthia state, Austria on 4 - 7 July 2024, Voca Erudita came out as Champion of Choral Works, Classic and Modern Category, and 2nd Prize Winner of Folksong Category.
Voca Erudita supervisor, Pringgo Widyo Laksono said, Musica Orbis Prague Festival is a festival-based competition held to appreciate art, especially in the field of choir and orchestra teams from all over the world. Along with 18 participants from 16 different countries, Voca Erudita had the opportunity to show her abilities at the Prague Conservatory Hall. She performed 3 songs, namely "Lancang Kuning" from Riau Province arranged by Mahardika Simbolon, "Gayatri" a Balinese regional song, arranged by Bagus S. Utomo, and "Yamko Rambe Yamko" a Papuan regional song arranged by Agustinus Bambang Jusana. As for the 58th Internationaler Chorwettbewerb in Spittal an der Drau, Voca Erudita sang classic songs entitled "O Rossignuol" by Monteverdi and "Give Us Peace" by Nana Forte. In the free song category, the UNS Student Choir performed "O Magnum Mysterium" arranged by Javier Busto, and "HAYA!" by Karin Rehnqvist. Meanwhile, in the Folklore Category, Voca Erudita presented Hela Rotane, Lancang Kuning, and Gayatri. These regional songs were performed with agile movements and props that supported the performance. The combination of attractive choreography and sound attracted admiration from the audience who continued to applaud after Voca Erudita's performance.
Facing these two competitions, the Erudita Voca Choir sent 37 singers who were students from Java, Sumatra, Nusa Tenggara and Papua. Pringgo Widyo Laksono, as the supervisor of Voca Erudita UNS, expressed his pride and emotion over Voca Erudita's performance. In preparation for this European competition, preparations were carried out for approximately five months with the support of all parties, especially parents, donors, sponsors and UNS.
To make Indonesia the world's modest fashion center, Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week is being held again. The launching of the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2025 was conducted by the Indonesian Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan in Jakarta mid-July. Meanwhile, the peak event will be held at ICE BSD, Tangerang from 9-12 October 2024, along with Trade Expo Indonesia 2024.
Currently, some 34 entrepreneurs were chosen to join the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2025. In manpower development for the modest fashion sector, the Trade Ministry joined hands with the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry by facilitating vocational students to showcase their best work at the peak of Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2025. Meanwhile, in this year's cosmetics sector, Wardah is joining again with their innovative products.
This year, the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week is collaborating again with the Indonesian Textile Association. The event also provides an opportunity for the textile industry to build business networks with fashion brands in boosting the use of domestic textile products.
To boost transaction, the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2025 also initiated the Buyer's Talk every month starting from July 2024. The virtual agenda invites buyers representatives of each global region to provide elaboration and inputs about quality standards, consumer demand trends, and suitable marketing strategy for Indonesian modest fashion brands to enter the market in each region.
The Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2025 launched on Wednesday (17/07/2024), showcased fashion parade from national modest fashion brands namely Chante Ivan Gunawan, Jenna and Kaia, Muda Official, Zaskia Mecca, and Calla.
The Department of Food Science and Technology at IPB University conducted an educational collaboration with the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of New South Wales, Australia. The cooperation includes several programs such as the development of double degree programs for undergraduates, international mobility for lecturers and students, and joint research.
In a meeting at the University of New South Wales campus, the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, Mukhamad Najib, stated that the Indonesian government strongly encourages universities to establish international partnerships. The government facilitates students and lecturers in undertaking international mobility at the world's top campuses. Additionally, the government supports Indonesian universities in inviting world-class professors to teach, mentor, or conduct joint research and publications in Indonesia.
Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology at IPB University, Eko Hari Purnomo, explained that IPB University currently offers an international class for undergraduate students. These students are required to gain international experience by studying for at least one semester at a partner campus abroad. Consequently, Eko stated that the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of New South Wales is an ideal destination for students of IPB University’s Department of Food Science and Technology to engage in international mobility.
Co-Director of Teaching and Learning at the Department of Food Science and Technology, University of New South Wales, Jayashree Arcot, welcomed the collaboration initiated by IPB University. Arcot noted that he had reviewed the profile of IPB University’s Department of Food Science and Technology, which was impressive. Arcot mentioned that both departments have received international accreditation from the world food technology professional association based in America, the Institute of Food Technologists.
