President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is eyeing to increase specimen testing, conducted to determine the transmission and spread of COVID-19, to nearly 20 thousand tests per day. The President affirmed at a limited virtual meeting on acceleration of COVID-19 pandemic handling held from the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Thursday. Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Cabinet Ministers, and Chairman of the Task Force Doni Monardo partook in the meeting. As quoted by Antara, Jokowi also commended that specimen testing had reached 10 thousand per day, in line with his earlier target. As of Wednesday, June 3, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Indonesia had reached 28,233, with 8,406 recovered and 1,698 deaths//ANT

Kira, a two and a half year-old tigress, arrived at a zoo in Mexico's northeast in April after her owner could no longer feed her due to the corona-virus-induced economic collapse. As quoted by AFP.com (03/6), the imposing 130-kilogram tigress was sedated and transported in a cage by truck to her new home in Culiacan zoo in Sinaloa state. Her owner had responded to a campaign by Mexico's Association of Zoos, Nurseries and Aquariums (AZCARM) to avoid abandoning wild animals during the lockdown.
