The new year should be welcomed with high optimism. For Indonesia, this was specifically conveyed by the Indonesian vice president, Ma'ruf Amin after opening the Indonesian Stock Exchange on Tuesday (2/1/2024). Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said, after experiencing improvements in 2023, 2024 will be an optimistic year that is expected to be full of blessings. The optimism expressed by the vice president is, indeed, in the context of Indonesia's economic growth.

In his remarks at the Indonesian Stock Exchange in Jakarta, the vice president explained data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, which showed that Indonesia's economic growth in the third quarter of 2023 reached almost 5 percent (year-on-year). According to him, the achievement is partly supported by the Indonesian capital market performance. He is optimistic that it can support stable economic growth in 2024 through appropriate policies.

Previously, on the Instagram account @jokowi, Indonesian President Joko Widodo wrote that Indonesia could overcome all challenges in 2023 with unity and cooperation. The president added that as Indonesia enters 2024 with enthusiasm and optimism, the country has walked on the right track and is ready to face any challenges in the future.

High optimism should be the spirit of all Indonesians as they enter 2024. Moreover, this year has an important meaning for them because a general election will be held to elect people's representatives who will express their aspirations in the country's House of Representatives. The presidential election will also be held to choose a president to lead Indonesia achieving brilliant results over the next five years.

The Indonesian people should be optimistic that the general election, which will be held on February 14, 2024, will be successful. Especially for prospective voters, confidence that the election will run successfully should be expressed from the start. For example, by ensuring they registered on the permanent voters list for the 2024 election. They shouldn't be fooled by dubious information if the prospective voters are not registered on the list.

The success of the 2024 election cannot be solely relied on by the general election organizers, such as the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). Every Indonesian citizen should take a role according to their capacity.

Entering the new year better than the previous year is everyone's hope. But hope should be accompanied by concrete action. With high optimism accompanied by hard work, all hopes can come true.
