During a state visit to Bangladesh, President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo visited one of the Rahkhine State refugee camps in Kamp Jamtoli, Ukhiya Sub-district, Cox's Bazar District, Bangladesh, Sunday, January 28, 2018.
"I was present at this Jamtoli Refugee Camp at Cox's Bazar to first look directly at the activities of our community, by our NGOs, as well as by the government," President Jokowi said after the visit.
During the visit, President Jokowi reviewed the Indonesia Humanitarian Alliance (IHA) -The Dreamers Medical Camps, which is one of the government-funded health facilities together with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), organizations, and Indonesians.
President Jokowi also had time to interact with the refugees while providing humanitarian assistance. A number of medicines, pharmacies, to water pumps in health facilities are also not spared from the Head of State review.
Not to forget, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation to all those who have supported the government's move to provide humanitarian assistance to Rakhine State refugees.
"I also want to express my gratitude to all parties from Indonesia, including the community, humanitarian NGOs," said the President.
President Jokowi also expressed the readiness of the government and the people of Indonesia to continue assisting Rakhine State refugees residing in Bangladesh.
"Since the beginning our government has always coordinated on the needs in the field and we will provide humanitarian aid continuously," said President Jokowi.
Accompanying President and Mrs. Iriana during this visit were Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Special Staff Coordinator of President Teten Masduki, and Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Rina Soemarno.(Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat of the President)
