Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla opened the Indo Defense Expo and Forum which is an exhibition and forum of the Main Tools of the domestic production armament system, in Jakarta, Wednesday (7/11). Domestic producers include PT Pindad which produces the main weapons systems for the army, PT PAL for the navy, and PT Dirgantara Indonesia for the air force. Vice President Jusuf Kalla said, a country needs security and defense to protect the country and its people from various threats, both internal and external threat from other country. A country must have armed forces and weapons. For this reason, Jusuf Kalla, who is also a figure in the world peace, asked the domestic defense industry to continue to be improved with technological and scientific innovation.
“The defense industry is needed for independence. We have experience when embargoed in the 90s because of the Timor problem, how difficult it is to obtain defense equipment because of the embargo. Therefore, a country must be ready to be independent of its own capabilities for its technology, in addition to certainly cooperating with other countries, said Jusuf Kalla.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla encouraged cooperation among countries in defense industry production, to maintain mutual peace and anticipate the threat of terrorism and radicalism. The expo also features aerospace and helicopter exhibitions, Indo Aerospace featuring Indo Helicopter 2018 Expo and Forum, and maritime exhibition Indo Marine 2018 Expo and Forum. Attending the opening of the four-day exhibition and forum were the 6th Indonesian Vice President Tri Sutrisno, Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander, Marshal Hadi Tjahyanto, and dozens of friendly country delegations, including from Malaysia , Australia, Japan and Saudi Arabia. President Joko Widodo led a limited cabinet meeting that disscussed about housing complex for government employees, Indonesian Military personnel and Indonesian Police personnel on Wednesday (7/11) at the President Office in Jakarta. In his briefing, President Jokowi said there are several important points that needs to be notice on the program such as land, model, finance and accessibility aspect. The President also underlined the importance of housing availability for government employees, Indonesian Military personnel and Indonesian Police personnel integrated with economic development that support the region.
“About land preparedness I want a complete report later. I want to know whether it is vertical or not. The second is about working accessibility that also connect with integrated economic development activities that support the region and also the payment method. So it can be from the state budget or state company or private sector but what kind of method that will be used,” President Joko Widodo said.
Furthermore President Jokowi said that government will concentrate on the speed process of the program for 945 thousands government employees, 275 thousands of Indonesian Military personnel and 360 thousands of Indonesian Police personnel all over Indonesia. The President also said that this program aims to make the government employees, military and police personnel can concentrate in performing their duty and give double effect to overcome the economic development that emerge from several activities in the accelaration of housing development program. Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia Eko Putro Sandjojo said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the Czech Republic in 1993, the two countries have cooperated in various fields, including education, tourism and trade. In the field of trade, the trade value of Indonesia and the Czech Republic has increased steadily, namely by 5 percent. However, this has not reflected the real potential of trade relations between the two countries. For this reason, cooperation between the two the country must continue to be improved. This was stated by Minister Eko Putro Sandjojo in his remarks on the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the former Czechoslovakia in Jakarta, Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018.
“In bilateral trade relation, we observe a steady rise of 5% each year. In 2017 in value reached 265 million US dollar. This however, does not reflect the true potential of our relation. The visit my business delegation accompanied by his Excellency Milan Stechlast September is one among many ways to increase our trade value, by bringing together our business and to frequent our contact among them,” Eko Putro Sandjojo said.
Minister Eko Putro Sandjojo further said, Czech Republic businessmen had invested in micro finance activities in Indonesia since 5 years ago. // The Minister invited other Czech businessmen to participate in investing in Indonesia too, because there are still a lot of potential in rural areas that had not yet been explored. This was stated by the Indonesian Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and the Transmigration, Eko Putro Sandjojo in his remarks at the celebration of 100th Anniversary of the Foundation of the former Czechoslovakia in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/11). Since 1995, Indonesia has invited around 190 Czech Republic students to study in Indonesia through various scholarships.
"Since 1995 Indonesia has invited approximately 190 Czech Republic students to learn Bahasa Indonesia through Dharma Siswa scholarship as well as through art and culture scholarship program. Equally, I’m hoping to see more Indonesian students to study at the University in Czech Republic. I’m proud that two oldest universities in Czech Republic are offering Indonesian studies as one of its Department," Eko Putro Sandjojo said.
Eko Putro Sandjojo further added that the visit of the President of the Czech Republic Senate in September 2018 had further strengthened bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries. Also present at celebration of 100th Anniversary of the Foundation of the former Czechoslovakia are Czech Minister of Defense Lubomir Metnar who leads the Czech Republic delegation at the 2018 Indo-Defense Expo and Forum Exhibition in Jakarta.
