The Governor of Jakarta Special Region, Anies Baswedan, inaugurated a mural artwork at Taman Ismail Marzuki-TIM, Monday (September 10), Jakarta. In his speech, Anies Baswedan said that he wanted to have more arts and culture decoration in Jakarta. According to him, the inauguration of the mural was a momentum to materialize Jakarta as a canvas or a place to express arts and culture.

“Let’s make this momentum for more than just a commemoration of inauguration of a mural. We must make this moment an opportunity to continue our aim to present the city as a space for artistic and cultural expression. I repeatedly underlined that Jakarta must be seen as a canvas that we invite artists to attend and bring up artwork in this city,” said Anies Baswedan.

Anies Baswedan revealed, in Jakarta itself the mural creation has begun, especially in welcoming the 2018 Asian Games and the 73rd Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia some time ago. According to him, the mural can add aesthetics and become more beautiful. because of that, it hopes for all Jakarta people to take advantage of their respective environments with various creative works of art. His side plans to provide facilities for creative people or artists, so as making the corners of Jakarta become more beautiful and artistic places. He also asked Ledania as a muralist, to have interaction with Indonesian mural painters to exchange experiences and ideas. (VOI/Rezha/AHM)

Indonesian President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese President Trần Đại Quang at Presidential Palace of Vietnam in Hanoi, on Tuesday September 11, 2018. On the occassion, the leaders of the two countries were committed to increasing cooperation in trade sector. The trade trend of Indonesia-Vietnam will be improved for the development of the two countries. This year, the two countries’ trade values reached 6.8 billion USD. President Joko Widodo in a joint press statment after the bilateral meeting conveyed that the two countries will make efforts to eliminate trade barriers that currently still happened. The obstacles are among others related to export of Indonesian automotive products to Vietnam.

“I have asked President Quang’s attention to eliminate trade barriers including for Indonesian automotive products. Secondly, Indonesian investors want to develop its investment in Vietnam. Therefore, I asked President Quang to protect Indonesian investors and treat them fairly,” Joko Widodo said.

Furthermore, President Joko Widodo explained the commitment of Indonesia and Vietnam to increase cooperation in other fields. One of them is an effort to intensify the completion of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) discussion of the two countries. Before carrying out the press statement with President Joko Widodo and President Quang, there was also a bilateral meeting attended by a number of ministers from respective country. On the occassion, the two countries have signed 2 Memorandum of Understandings directly witnnessed by President Joko Widodo and President Tran Dai Quang. The two MoUs are among others an Indonesia-Vietnam Strategic Partnership Action Plan of 2019-2023 signed by Indonesian and Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Ministers as well as Joint Communique to combat illegal fishing or illegal, unreported and unregulated –IUU Fishing and promoting sustainable fishing management signed by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural development. Indonesian and South Korean government institutions and companies have signed 15 memorandums of understanding (MoU) during President Joko Widodos two-day visit to that country ending Tuesday.


The agreements signed in South Korea were on investment cooperation in various sectors including energy, property, machines, technology and cosmetics with total investment commitment of US$5.76 billion business to business.

"We are very open for investment flowing into Indonesia," chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rosan P Roeslani said received in Jakarta on Wednesday.


Rosan said there are still many trade and investment potentials between South Korea and Indonesia that need explorations.


"This shows improvement in the already strong trade and investment relations between Indonesia and South Korea," Rosan said.


The agreements include the industrial sector between Hyundai Engineering and PT Sulfindo Adiusaha to develop chemical industry to produce vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and poly vinyl chloride (PVC) in Merak, Banten, at a cost of US$200 million;. between Doosan Infracore and PT Boma Bisma Indra and PT Equiti Manajemen Teknologi on development of diesel engine factory with an investment of US$185 million; and between SD Biotechnologies and PT Orion Pratama Sentosa to build cosmetic industry valued at US$20 million in Karawang, West Java.


There was also strategic partnership in the development of machine tool technology center in Bandung, West Java ascollaboration between the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Industry Ministry.


Rosan was a member of the presidential entourage to Korea also including Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto, head of the Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Lembong and head of Bekraf Triawan Munaf.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received four South Korean business chiefs on the sideline of his state visit to that country on Monday.


The four business leaders include CJ Group Chairman Lee Jae-hyun, Lotte Group Vice Chairman Hwang Kag-gyu, POSCO CEO Oh-Joon Kwon and Hyundai Group Vice Chairman Chung Eui-sun.


They were received in turn at one of the rooms at Hotel Lotte Seoul.


CJ Group Chairman Lee Jae-Hyun expressed thanks to the President for having received him while Lotte Group Vice Chairman Hwang Kag-gyu said he would do his best to increase investment in Indonesia.


At the meetings President Jokowi was accompanied by coordinating minister for political, security and legal affairs Wiranto, industry minister Airlangga Hartarto, foreign minister Retno Marsudi, head of BKPM (capital investment coordinating agency) Thomas Lembong, head of Creative Agency Triawan Munaf, cabinet secretary Pramono Anung and ambassador Umar Hadi.


This was the first agenda of President Jokowi`s visit which was later to be followed by a Business Forum meeting.


Foreign minister Retno Marsudi said before President Jokowi would be very busy on Monday with around ten agendas to meet.


She said the President would hold a one-on-one meeting with South Korean businessmen, attend a business forum, a welcome ceremony and a bilateral meeting and a joint press conference with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
President Jokowi is scheduled to stay in South Korea from September 9 to 11 before proceeding to Vietnam for a state visit from Sept 11 to 12. (ANTARA)
