VOInews, Jakarta: The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Sydney, Australia held the Indonesian Festival by the Harbour on Saturday (25/11/2023) at Circular Quay, an iconic area of Sydney.

Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana in his speech hoped that the festival, which was attended by more than 4 thousand visitors, would become an annual agenda in Sydney so as to promote culture and increase investment between the two countries.

 

"I hope that this Indonesian festival can become one of the annual agendas in Sydney, and can promote not only Indonesian culture, but also Indonesia's trade, investment and tourism potential and further strengthen the Indonesia-Australia friendship," Consul General Vedi said in a statement from the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney on Sunday (26/11/2023) received in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, one of the Indonesian diaspora visitors, Emma Manurung, expressed her pride in witnessing the Indonesia by the Harbor festival.

"This promotional event is very good and memorable, hopefully next year we can witness this event again, it's really proud," she said.


The Indonesia by the Harbor Festival showcased a variety of Indonesian cultures, ranging from archipelago dances, traditional music performances, to silat and fashion shows. In addition, the Festival also pampered the palate with Indonesian culinary delights such as nasi bungkus, cendol, batagor, and mi kocok, curing the longing of the Indonesian citizens and diaspora who attended.

The event was made even more special by the appearance of Indonesian actresses Acha Septriasa, Melody Septania, and Acha Sinaga who now reside in Australia. The three of them participated in the Batik Chic fashion show.

The elegance and charm of Acha Septriasa, Melody Septania, and Acha Sinaga in demonstrating batik clothing not only enlivened the festival, but also succeeded in drawing the attention of Australians to the beauty and richness of Indonesia.
