State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has recovered electric power to Balaraja Extra High Voltage substation in Banten Province, and furthermore it will be channeled to Suralaya steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) to gradually recover its operation to reach its capacity of 2800 MW of electricity.
In addition, power supply from Gandul Extra High Voltage substations in Depok, West Java Province, will be channeled to Muara Karang gas and steam power plant (PLTGU) to supply electricity to the Indonesian capital city, Jakarta.
Acting President Director of PLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani said here on Sunday that the power supply to Jakarta was expected to recover within three hours.
"We apologize for the inconvenience today, and currently all efforts have been made to recover the Java-Bali power system, especially in the area of West Java, Banten, and Jakarta," Cahyani said.
The company has focused on power supply to PLTGU Muara Karang and PLTGU Priok to recover the system in the capital city.
Previously, PLN has recovered the operation of hydro-generated power plant (PLTA) Saguling and PLTA Cirata which are functioned as power stabilizer, and, at the same time, supply the electricity to PLTU Suralaya through Cibinong, Depok, Gandul, Lengkok, Balaraja and Suralaya extra high voltage substations.
PLTU Suralaya is expected to return to its normal operation within six hours to normalize power system in West Java and Banten.
Blackout that affected thousands of homes and public facilities in West Java, Jakarta, and Banten was caused by several troubles in the extra high voltage 500 kV transmission of Ungaran - Pemalang.
"PLN has taken its best efforts and will have evaluation to prevent recurrence of today's incident," Cahyani said.
The government had spent Rp115 trillion on Indonesian healthcare insurance BPJS Health until 2018, according to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"'I need to inform that until 2018, the government had spent funds reaching some Rp115 trillion in addition to the government subsidy for insurance fees of some 37 million people and for about 17 million military and police officers. It means the government has, so far, subsidized some 150 million people," Jokowi remarked during a limited cabinet meeting on the National Health Program at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Thursday.
"This is a fantastic amount. I want the management of BPJS to be improved and corrected," he stated.
The members of BPJS Health rose to 222 million people, from 133 million in 2014.
"Of the total, 96 million are poor that received free insurance coverage provided by the government," he remarked.
He noted that the working orientation of the health sector must be shifted from prioritizing curing the ill to disease prevention and health promotion.
"Hence, I urge the health minister to adopt new and innovative measures and educate the public to lead a healthy lifestyle. This should become a movement that involves every stakeholder at schools and the public, in general," he emphasized during the meeting attended by several ministers.
He also pressed for deregulation in the pharmaceutical and medical equipment industries.
"They (the regulations) should be cut extensively and simplified to enable the pharmaceutical sector players to grow and help the public to purchase medicines at affordable prices. According to reports that I received, 95 percent of drug raw materials are imported. It must not be continued for long," he stated.
He also called for better incentives for researches on medical innovation.
On Nov 15, President Jokowi reiterated the significance of the Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) streamlining its management as an effective strategy to restrain the deficit in the institution.
"Once again, the BPJS should improve its management," the president reiterated after paying an impromptu visit to the Abdul Moeloek Hospital in Bandar Lampung to observe the BPJS services at the hospital.
Jokowi attributed BPJS Kesehatan’s deficit to mismanagement since several independent participants were incapable of footing the premium.
The discipline for the payment of premium should be intensified to help curtail the agency's deficit.
Earlier, Deputy Finance Minister Mardiasmo revealed that BPJS Kesehatan's deficit was caused by the inability of particularly participants of the non-wage recipients scheme (PBPU) to pay the premium. (ANTARA)

The Renewable Energy Directive (RED) II, and Delegated Regulation-DR imposed by the European Union on palm oil products, are discriminatory measures that are detrimental to palm oil producing countries, especially Indonesia and Malaysia. The policy has caused the export of Indonesian palm oil products to the European Union to decline. That was stated by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to VOI reporter, at the 2nd Meeting of the Ministerial Level of Palm Oil Producing Countries in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Monday (Nov 18). Minister Airlangga said that currently there is a competition between vegetable oil and palm oil producing countries. Therefore, Indonesia and Malaysia will consult in facing the negative campaign of European Union at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
“There is actually another vegetable oil competition with palm oil. It was clear that soybean oil production was far below 30 percent compared to palm oil production. To face a negative campaign and legislation that has been agreed in the European Union, Indonesia and Malaysia will consult and communicate in dealing with this case at the WTO,” said Airlangga.
To stop the use of palm oil based transportation fuels, the European Union has also reduced Malaysian revenues from this sector. So, Minister Airlangga said it would be better if Indonesia and Malaysia jointly debate this case at the World Trade Organization (WTO)// DP/Trs.AF

"The President hopes that we will develop supply and demand in terms of employment needs. We all know, because the nature of this card is many to many, multi to multi, different from other cards, that are one-way, like government assistance cards. In this cards, there are many participants, many coachings. But we also make a mechanism for how to track and how to provide coachings for accredited training institutions and coachings that can be taken part by the community. With this online system, we actually try to arrange it based on quotas. So the opportunity to participate in the trainings is the same for the people who register in the big cities or in the small towns," said Airlangga.

Minister of Research and Technology Bambang Brodjonegoro stated that Indonesia needs to take example of technology and innovation made by other countries, such as the one made by South Korea.
"There is no harm in us imitating or adapting the South Korean model called From Imitation to Innovation ," he said when delivering a speech at the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology Surabaya, Sunday.
This strategy has already been carried out by South Korea until it was able to become one of the developed countries in Asia that can compete with other developed countries in the world.
In the 1950s South Korea was one of the poorest countries in Asia, along with Indonesia. However, it only took about 40 years for South Korea to become a developed country.
"It means that we are still left behind and we need a strategy to bump up Indonesia's status and competitiveness among other countries," he said.
Generally, a country can progress by intensifying the development of science, technology, and innovation. Therefore, Indonesia needs to implement the 'From Imitation to Innovation' strategy to fulfill its ambitions to progress.
However, he continued, after following the progress of science and technology in developed countries, Indonesia must continue to develop it further, as well as learn and improve along the way, so that it does not stop at a certain stage.
"We must not be imitators or imitate continuously but we must turn into innovators," he said.
In addition, the rapid development of technology also causes changes in various aspects, including the industry that is developing now and in the future, which is the fourth industrial revolution.
Technologies that will develop in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 include artificial intelligent, the Internet of things, augmented or wearable reality, advanced Robotic, and 3D printing.
The IR 4.0 enables the development of new digital-based economies, at the same time generating disruptive changes or innovations. (ANTARA)
