Jakarta. Indonesia, as the official partner country of the Hannover Messe 2021: Digital Edition, is ready to showcase its competence in implementing the industrial technology 4.0 called Making Indonesia 4.0, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated.

This event can also offer the necessary momentum to demonstrate globally Indonesia's capability in the manufacturing sector in the path of transformation to the industrial era 4.0," Kartasasmita noted in a statement here on Sunday.

Indonesia's participation in the world's largest industrial technology exhibition held on April 12-16, 2021, will offer vast benefits, particularly for the industrial and economic sectors, according to the minister.

The expo is projected to support Indonesia in conducting national branding for its position as a new power in the global economy and a global manufacturing player.

In 2019, the event had drawn over 6,500 participants from 75 nations and occupied a land area of 227,000 square meters.

Indonesia's participation in the annual expo, held since 72 years, is part of the implementation of industrial transformation 4.0, whose policy direction is defined in Making Indonesia 4.0.

The main objective of the Making Indonesia 4.0 initiative is to drive Indonesia to rank among the 10 largest economies in the world by 2030, with three key aspirations: 10 percent of the contribution of net exports to GDP, two folds increase in productivity against costs, and gross domestic spending on research and development (R&D).

Seven industrial sectors have been designated as the priority focus of Making Indonesia 4.0: the food and beverage industry, textile and clothing industry, automotive industry, chemical industry, electronics industry, pharmaceutical industry, and medical device industry.

These seven sectors were selected since they can contribute 70 percent of the total manufacturer's GDP, 65 percent of the manufactured product exports, and 60 percent of the industrial workers.

"The Ministry of Industry implements a priority strategy for ensuring the success of Making Indonesia 4.0 by improving the flow of material, redesigning industrial zones, standard sustainability accommodation, empowering small and medium industries (IKM), building national digital infrastructure, attracting foreign investment, improving the quality of human resources (SDM), forming an innovation ecosystem, implementing technology investment incentives, and harmonizing rules and policies," the minister expounded.

Indonesia has also capitalized on the largest technology exhibition in the world to introduce the power of industrial technology and bolster connection between Indonesia and global supply chain networks, according to Kartasasmita.

In the series of the Hannover Messe 2021 agenda, the government has prepared several collaborations in the industrial sector, both under the government to government (G to G) and business to business (B to B) schemes.

Indonesia features topics -- automation, motion & drives, digital ecosystems, energy solutions, engineered parts and solutions, new work, and global business and markets -- at the Hannover Messe. (Antaranews)

Jakarta. A human rights defender in Papua denounced the killings of two teachers in Beoga Sub-district, Puncak District, calling such assaults on them as being heinous and inhuman.

"The government needs to set up a joint team for probing the fatal shootings," Executive Director of the Justice and Papuan People Integrity (YKKMP) Theo Hesegem stated.

Hesegem was vociferous in condemning the killings of the two teachers, who had indeed contributed to edifying Papuans to become smart, Hesegem noted in a statement that ANTARA quoted here, Monday.

"The two teachers fell victims to the brutality of the armed Papuan criminals. What benefit did they actually gain by gunning down innocent civilians," he emphasized.

The non-native Papuan teachers, who come to Papua, deserve protection and respect of all elements in the Papuan society at large, including those from armed criminal groups.

"They come here for the development of Papua's human resources. Why are they shot dead?" he remarked, adding that akin to others, the two slain teachers also had the right to live in Papua.

Several armed Papuan criminals shot dead two teachers and set ablaze junior and senior high school buildings in Beoga Sub-district on April 8-9, 2021.

Consequently, several local residents fled their homes and sought refuge at a military post in the sub-district.

Security disturbances have been reported sporadically from several areas, such as the districts of Puncak and Intan Jaya, where armed Papuan groups operate.

Intan Jaya recorded its bloodiest month in September 2020, with notorious armed groups launching a string of attacks in the area that killed two soldiers and two civilians while inflicted injuries on two others.

These armed Papuan groups have continued their acts of terror during the new year.

On January 6, 2021, some 10 armed Papuans vandalized and torched a Quest Kodiak aircraft belonging to the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) at the Pagamba Village airstrip.

The armed groups often employ hit-and-run tactics against Indonesian security personnel, while they unleash acts of terror against civilians to instill a sense of fear among the people.

On February 8, 2021, an armed rebel reportedly shot a 32-year-old man at close range in Bilogai Village, Sugapa Sub-district.

The victim, identified by his initials as RNR, sustained gunshot wounds on the face and right shoulder and was taken to the Timika Public Hospital in Mimika District on February 9.

On February 9, 2021, six armed Papuans had fatally stabbed a motorcycle taxi (ojek) driver. (Antaranews)

Jakarta. Armed Papuan criminals, who shot dead two teachers in Puncak District, Papua Province, were terrorists, according to House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin.

"Almost every year, armed criminal groups conduct their acts of terror against civilians in Papua," Syamsuddin noted in a statement that ANTARA quoted here, Monday.

However, Indonesian security personnel, stationed in the province, are still slow in tracing and cracking down on the perpetrators behind the acts of terror.

The armed criminals' deadly assaults on the ill-fated teachers were indeed acts of terrorism, he noted, adding that he extended his deep condolences over their deaths.

The stationed Indonesian military and police personnel should be able to create a sense of security and dispel fear of the armed criminals' acts of terror from the minds of people at large.

"To this end, with a sufficient number of personnel, the military and police must continue to secure all neighborhood areas. Do not allow civilians to again fall victim," he remarked.

Syamsuddin further urged all related parties in the country to seek a comprehensive solution to Papua’s problems, so that locals can gain perpetual peace and prosperity.

Consequently, several local residents fled their homes and sought refuge at a military post.

Papua Police Chief Insp. Gen. Mathius Fakhiri affirmed that the locals would soon be evacuated to Sugapa Sub-district in Intan Jaya District.

"The violent acts of the armed Papuan criminals are brutal," Fakhiri noted, adding that some 25 personnel of the police's elite Mobile Brigade unit, stationed at the Beoga police precinct, partook in the efforts to secure and protect the refugees.

Security disturbances have been reported sporadically from several areas, such as the districts of Puncak and Intan Jaya, where armed Papuan groups operate.
