VOI News, Jakarta: Acting Deputy for Tourism Products and Activity Organizers of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism,  Vincent Jemadu has explained that the Indonesian government has set an increase in the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate to 12 percent to be effective on January 1, 2025. 

Responding to this, Acting Deputy for Tourism Products and Activity Organizers of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism,  Vincent Jemadu, in the “2024 Year-End Press Conference”in Jakarta on  Friday (20/12/2024) urged tourism industry players to diversify products in anticipation of the impact of the policy. 

According to Vincent Jemadu, the increase in the amount of tax may trigger a shift in demand and supply. So, industry players are encouraged to diversify the products or services offered without reducing the quality of the product itself.

“There may be a shift. People, who like premium products that are expensive, will shift to products or services that are below their level. And our industry friends are invited to start diversifying products, but not reducing the satisfaction or quality of the product itself,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa revealed that the 12 percent VAT policy will have a direct impact on domestic tourists. She also stated that the Ministry of Tourism will prepare anticipations related to the impact that the tourism sector can feel from the 12 percent VAT policy; one of them is by preparing cheap tour packages. (VOI-Dora -Mar-AF-Rahmana)

VOI News, Jakarta: Indonesian Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana is optimistic that the achievement of the tourism sector in 2024 will exceed the performance of 2023. 

Minister Widiyanti in the “2024 Year-End Press Conference”, in Jakarta, Friday (20/12), pointed out that a number of performance indicators of the tourism sector has  shown positive growth throughout 2024, such as the contribution of tourism Gross Domestic Product in the first half of 2024 amounted to 4.01 percent. According to her, this figure exceeded the contribution last year.

“The contribution of tourism GDP in the first half of 2024 was 4.01%, this is more than, exceeding the realization of the previous year,” she conveyed.

Besides, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti further explained that based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, for domestic tourists, the number of movements in January to October 2024 reached 839.4 million trips, and already achieved the realization of the movement of  domestic tourists in 2023 of 839.7 million trips.

Meanwhile, for foreign tourist visits, until October 2024, the number of foreign tourists reached 11.6 million visits and is believed to continue to grow until December 2024.

Minister Widiyanti also revealed that foreign exchange earnings in the tourism sector until the third quarter of 2024 reached 12.63 billion US dollars. Meanwhile, the number of tourism workers from semester 1 was 24.5 million people. (VOI-Dora -Mar-AF-Rahmana)

VOI News, Jakarta: Indonesian Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has conveyed that the Christmas 2024 and New Year Holiday 202 is a big momentum that must be utilized as well as possible  because it has a significant impact on the economy. 

Minister Widiyanti at the “2024 Year-End Press Conference” in Jakarta on Friday (20/12) projected that  during the  holidays,  there will be 110.7 million movements of domestic tourists with a potential money turnover of 166 trillion rupiah. 

While the projected movement of foreign tourists is 1 million - 1.325 million visits with a potential money turnover of 22.5 to 29.3 trillion rupiah.

“The projection of archipelago tourism traveling in December is estimated at 110.7 million movements, with a potential money turnover during  the Christmas and New Year Holiday of 166 trillion Rupiah. While the projection of foreign tourists visiting in December is 1 million to 1.325 million visits. The potential money turnover in foreign tourists is 22.5 to 29.2 Trillion Rupiah,” she said.

Moreover, Minister Widiyanti further pointed out that the Ministry  has prepared a number of strategies as mitigation ahead of the Christmas 2024 and New Year Holiday 202 holidays. 

In early December, the Ministry of Tourism coordinated with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises regarding lowering ticket prices.  The Ministry of Tourism has also socialized the Circular Letter of the Minister of Tourism regarding the Implementation of Safe, Comfortable and Fun Tourism Activities during the the Christmas and New Year holidays. It also directly reviewed the readiness of destinations and accessibility in several regions of the country, such as Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport, Blimbingsari Banyuwangi Airport, Christmas and New Year Posts at Ketapang Banyuwangi port, and Gilimanuk Port.

The Ministry of Tourism has also published and amplified information about   the Christmas and New Year holidays on all social media platforms of the ministry of tourism. To monitor tourism conditions during the  holidays, the Ministry of Tourism will also activate tourism crisis management. VOI News, Jakarta: Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov has said that bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Russia is further strengthened through a lot of  programs in the fields of green energy, social affairs and education.

 Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov in his official statement at the Russian Ambassador House in Jakarta on Friday (20/12)highlighted opportunities for collaboration in the nuclear energy sector as a green and economical energy source.

He also said that  Russia, through the atomic energy company Rosatom, showed its commitment by participating in green energy exhibitions and conferences in Indonesia. 

“Also, there was a special programme from the Russian State Company for Atomic Energy, Rosatom, in one exhibition and conference dedicated to the green economy and green energy. And we still believe that we can engage in cooperation with Indonesia in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, because it's also a kind of green and cheap energy,” he conveyed.

Furthermore, Ambassador Tolchenov further pointed out that the Russian Embassy showed social concern by helping two orphanages in Indonesia. 

According to Ambassador Tolchenov,  the proceeds from the embassy's participation in the charity bazaar were used to provide gifts, foodstuffs, and building renovation assistance to orphanages in Banten and North Jakarta.  

He further emphasized that in the field of education, relations between Indonesia and Russia continue to be strengthened through cooperation with the University of Indonesia. Ambassador Tolchenov hopes that this cooperation will continue to grow, covering historical, social, and cultural research.
