Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi will make a state visit to South Korea on September 10-11, 2018. During the visit President Jokowi and South Korean President Moon Jae-In will discuss strengthening economic cooperation and signing a six memorandum of understanding (MoU) between countries (G2G). The six memorandums of understanding include the fields of legislation, economy and trade, the development of human resources (HR), maritime security and the environment. This was revealed by the Indonesian Foreign Ministry's Director of East Asia and Pacific Edi Yusup in a media briefing held at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta on Thursday, September 6, 2018.

“The MoU will be signed in the field of legislation between cabinet secretary and the Ministry of Legislation of South Korea, then cooperation in the field of immigration, the third economic cooperation between the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and MOTIE is more likely to be a regular meeting at the level of the Coordinating Minister for Economy with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea. Then the fourth MoU will be collaboration in the field of human resource development between Ministry of administrative and bureaucratic reform and South Korea's Personal Management Minister. Then the fifth will be a MoU on maritime security cooperation between Sea Security and the Korean Coast Guard. Then the sixth plan is to have an MoU between the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the Ministry of Environment of South Korea,” Edi Yusup said.

Furthermore, Edi said that the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of immigration would make it easier for Indonesian citizens to enter South Korea, one of which is by shortening the time and reducing the price of making visas. It is also possible that the memorandum of understanding will be developed into a visa-free facility for Indonesian Citizens visiting South Korea in the future. The Center for Multilateral Studies and Development (P2K), the Agency for Policy Assessment and Development (BPPK), the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) organized the Regional Conference on Contemporary Warfare: Global ; Trends and Humanitarian Challenges on Wednesday, September 5 2018 in Jakarta. The conference presented representatives from various international organizations, including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), as well as various regional study centers and academic institutions. Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the aim of the conference was to find solutions to new challenges in realizing world peace. The new challenge arises from technological developments, namely cyber war. This type of war is considered to require attitudes and special handling efforts that are different from conventional warfare.

"Now we know that there are new challenges, there are different types of war, which have used more technology. Well, this is one of the prescriptions. Because I say, whatever type of conflict, whatever type of war, the victims are still human. And this human will always be the core attention of the ICRC, of ​​course also for Indonesian foreign policy. Therefore we collaborate with the ICRC to organize this Regional Conference which will discuss the new challenges, said Retno Marsudi..

On the same occasion, the Head of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs BPPK Siswo Pramono said that this discussion was a wide-ranging discussion. After successfully conducting the 2014-2018 Action-Plan in various fields, Indonesia and Vietnam are preparing the next Action-Plan for 2019 to 2023. The action plan includes political dialogue and diplomatic, economic cooperation, security and defense cooperation, and tourism promotion, cultural exchanges and inter-community relations or people-to-people contact. Vietnam's Ambassador to Indonesia, Pham Vinh Quan in his remarks at the reception of Vietnam National Day which was held in Jakarta on Tuesday evening on September 4th, 2018 said that President Joko Widodo is scheduled to hold a bilateral visit to Vietnam to discuss the follow-up of the 2019 to 2023 Action Plan with Vietnamese Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

“We develop close cooperation in a wide range of areas and coordination in major international and regional issues and now, we are waiting for the next Action Plan for the years 2019 to 2023 to be signed during the visit of President Joko Widodo to Vietnam in early September. The two sides are determined to set the target to raise bilateral trade to $10 billion dollars by 2020. The first state visit to Vietnam by President Joko Widodo along with the coming visit to Indonesia by Vietnamese Prime Minister in October this year will certainly be the driving force for our bilateral cooperation and will yield important dividends for both of our countries in the near future,” said Ambassador Pham Vinh Quan.

Ambassador Pham Vinh Quan further said that Vietnam and Indonesia have close and long historical relations. The two countries have similar background, independence struggle history and general view coordination in many regional and international forums. It is an important foundation from the establishment of strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia signed in 2013. Secretary of Youth and Sports Ministry Gatot S Dewabroto, after the 2018 Asian Para Games coordination meeting in Jakarta recently said that Indonesia was targeting the top 10 positions at the 2018 Asian Para Games. The target was set by Indonesian President Joko Widodo based on the athlete's achievements at the ASEAN Para Games 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the 2014 Asian Para Games in Incheon, South Korea.

“Yesterday Indonesia was successful at the Asian Games, which was previously targeted 16 gold medals, but it could grab 31 gold medals. Thus it is same at the Asian Para Games. So after the Indonesian contingent for the ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia last year returned, thanks God we were the overall champion. Then it was targeted by the President, there would be an increase in rankings from four years ago following the Asian Para Games in Incheon. In Incheon our ranking was the ninth.
