Indonesia will be the host of the 30^th Session of the International Coordinating Council –ICC of the Man and the Biosphere Program (MAB) UNESCO in Palembang, South Sumatera on July 23 – 28, 2018. It is the program of MAB UNESCO that discusses about biosphere conservation management as the sustainable development. It was said by the Head of National committee of MAB UNESCO, Enny Sudarmonowati at the Launching of the 30^th Session of the ICC MAB UNESCO at LIPI Auditorium  in  Jakarta on Monday (14/05).

“ICC MAB UNESCO Meeting 2018 will be held in Palembang Indonesia. We must play the role because Indonesia is included as the richest biodiversity country, Man of the Biosphere and cultural rich country. We must also submit a recommendation namely Palembang Recommendation. So, the result of the meeting will be referred by the world,” Enny Sudarmonowati said.

Enny Sudarmonowati who also serves as Deputy of Biodiversity Sciences of LIPI explained that currently there are 669 biospheres spread in 120 countries. Indonesia has 11 biosphere conservations and propose 3 nominees of biosphere conservation, namely Berbak Sembilang in South Sumatera Selatan, Betung Kerihun Danau Sentarum in West Kalimantan  and Rinjani Lombok in Nusa Tenggara Barat. Enny also hoped those biosphere conservation can be approved and stipulated by UNESCO at the 30^th session of ICC MAB UNESCO in Palembang in Juli 2018. (VOI/AF/NT)

Terrorism is  a mutual enemy which must be countered together. Not only the Indonesian Police and the Military, but the people must play the role to overcome the real threats. It was said by Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu  at the Gathering with Media in Jakarta on Monday  (14/5) in addressing terrorism action and several bombing occurred in Surabaya East Java recently.

“So, the first threat is terrorists. It is the real threat that can happen anytime. Beginning in 2017 Indonesia is now facing the 3^rd generation of terrorists, the first group namely Al-Qaeda exploded the World Trade Center in the US, then the ISIS in Iraq and Syria. We are now facing the 3^rd generation of terrorists who claimed themselves as ISIS  Indonesia, ISIS Malaysia, and ISIS Philippine. Therefore, two years ago I made trilateral cooperation of Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippine to localize the terrorists,” Ryamizard Ryacudu said.

Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu further said that terrorism is the real and serious threat for Indonesia. Therefore, countering terrorism can not use usual step, but it must be overcome seriously and do not be related with human rights issue. (VOI/AF/NT)

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Wiranto on Monday (14/5) in Jakarta invited a number of chairman of the House of Representatives faction and Secretary General of political parties to agree on the acceleration of Law number 15/2003 on Combating Terrorism Crime which process has been running for two years at the House. Minister Wiranto also said that the acceleration effort is conducted to respond a number of terrorism actions which occurred in Surabaya and Sidoarjo, East Java recently. With the enactment of the Act revision, it is hoped terrorism combating process in Indonesia will be more effective. Because security apparatuses have strong legal protection to more firmly tackle the terrorists and to take action before the act of terrorism takes place.

“With the authority, and legal protection, the security apparatuses will not doubt to take preventive action, and earlier to solve the problem. There are terrorism indications that should be handled immediately,” Wiranto said  

Minister Wiranto moreover added that the Law of combating terrorism will be legalized immediately, so that the overcome of terrorism case will no longer use the Regulation in Lieu of Law. Through the Law on Combating Terrorism, the government is expected to be able to conduct the handling and terrorism prevention overall. (VOI/REZHA/TRANS YATI/NITA)

A series of bomb explosions which were allegedly conducted by terrorists in Surabaya and Sidoarjo, East Java have caused people’s unrest worries. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Wiranto called on all people to remain calm down. Because security apparatus will increase efforts to capture all perpetrators who were involved and to prevent further acts of terrorism. This was stated by Wiranto after holding a meeting with chairman of the House of Representatives faction and Secretary Generals of political parties  to discuss revision of Law number 15/2003  on CombatingTerrorism Crime  in Jakarta, on Monday (14/5).

“With many terrorism attack, people are hoped remain calm down, to carry out daily activities safely. In this case, security apparatuses will increase protection, on people’s security and environment,” Wiranto said.

Furthermore, Minister Wiranto added currently the government and the House of Representatives are continuing to accelerate the legalization of the Law revision of Combating Terrorism Crime to increase the effectiveness of security forces in combating and preventing terrorism in Indonesia. However, the people’s participation is also needed to support performance of the security apparatuses. Therefore, the people are  also asked to keep alert and to oversee suspicious things that may lead to the terrorism acts in their surrounding area. (VOI/REZHA/TRANS YATI/NT)
