President Joko Widodo attended the 2018 Santri Day event who was held at Gasibu Square, Bandung City, West Java, Sunday night, October 21, 2018.

In his remarks, the President said that being a santri was to become an Islam who loved the nation, became a religious Muslim, became a santri who had a noble character and at the same time nationalist as was advocated by kiai, ajengan and ulama.

"History has noted the great role of the ulamas, the kiai, the santri in the Indonesian struggle for independence, in safeguarding Pancasila, in maintaining the Republic of Indonesia, and always guiding the path of goodness, the path of truth, to the path of progress," said the President.

Commemoration of Santri Day which was determined through Presidential Decree No. 22 of 2015 according to the President is a form of respect and gratitude to the state for the contribution of the kiai, the ulema, the santri, and all components of the nation who followed the example of the ulema. When opening the XIV Congress of the Indonesian Hospital Association (PERSI) on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at the JCC, President Joko Widodo again mentioned the fourth industrial revolution that was before his eyes. McKinsey Global Institute even calls the industrial revolution will have three thousand times the impact of the first industrial revolution.

The health sector will also be touched by the industrial revolution through very rapid and impactful changes. The Head of State reminded the hospital managers to be aware and prepared to face the changes.

"In the health sector there will be changes. The technological revolution has redefined healthcare industry. Be careful," he said.

According to him, PERSI must immediately anticipate and prepare the innovations needed so that the hospital is able to serve patients well. There have been many innovations made in the world of health. Like, for example, there is already a device application specifically for children to educate on the importance of brushing your teeth properly. There are also other innovations that allow the patient's health condition to be monitored without having to go to hospital facilities. (biro pers )

President Joko Widodo received an honorable visit from the Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki on Monday, October 15, 2018. The second meeting took place warmly in Veranda Istana Merdeka, Jakarta.

During the meeting, the Head of State was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Marsudi. While the Palestinian Foreign Minister was accompanied by the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Sun.

After the meeting, Retno Marsudi explained that the intention of the arrival of the Palestinian Foreign Minister was to express gratitude to the Indonesian government for the consistent support of  Indonesia to Palestine.

"Palestine again expressed its appreciation to Indonesia for the relationship and support that Indonesia has always given to Palestine. Earlier it was conveyed, wherever the Palestinian issue was discussed, he saw that there was always Indonesia," said Retno.

The honorable visit of Riyad al-Maliki is a series of Solidarity Week for Palestine activities that began on Saturday, October 13, 2018, yesterday to October 17 next. (biro pers) 

President Joko Widodo received a courtesy call from Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at the Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java, Tuesday, October 9, 2018. The meeting was held in the President's office at around 10:00 WIB.

During the meeting the President was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendi, and Head of the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Workers (BNP2TKI) Nusron Wahid. While Wan Azizah seemed to be accompanied by three delegates.

After the one-hour meeting, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi told journalists that Wan Azizah's arrival was an introductory visit in her capacity as Malaysian Deputy PM.

"In the discussion, the point is that as the closest country, a close allied neighbor, the leaders of Indonesia and Malaysia agree to intensify communication between the leaders of the two countries, because with good communication if problems occur, it will be easier to solve the problem,"  Retno said.

According to Retno, the two leaders said that Indonesia's relationship with Malaysia was in a very good condition and needed to be improved. The President also entrusted Indonesian citizens who lived and worked in Malaysia during the discussion.

"We also talk about the issue of education for the children of our migrant workers in Malaysia," she continued.

Regarding this matter, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that for Sabah and Sarawak now Indonesia already has a community learning center (CLC), but not for the Peninsula.

"Therefore, Indonesia requests that the community learning center can also be established or exist on the Peninsula because the number of Indonesian children living there is quite a lot," she said.
