If the Covid-19 pandemic is over and you can travel again, please visit Indonesia, especially South Sulawesi. To travel to South Sulawesi, you feel incomplete if you haven't been to Malino, a nature tourism located in Malino Village, Tinggi Snout District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. One of the natural attractions that should not be missed in the City of Flowers is Jeneberang Waterfall. Jeneberang Waterfall falls between high cliffs. The place is hidden in the upstream of the Jeneberang River. The sound of splashing water makes the feel of nature even more serene.

Jeneberang waterfall was formed because of a disaster. The dam that was destroyed by the flood of the Jeneberang River formed a beautiful waterfall. This waterfall flows in the middle of the crush of rocks. So, it is beautiful and stunning. When viewed from below, Jeneberang Waterfall is like a curtain. Two rushing streams of water flow between two high cliffs. At the bottom, there are natural rocks that meet the flow of river water. You can immediately feel the freshness of the water by sitting under these rocks. If you love photography, you can capture yourself there with a backdrop of high rocks and waterfall views.

Malino's natural tourism location is 90 kilometers from Makassar City, the capital of the province of South Sulawesi. From Malino, to Jeneberang waterfall, you have to pass through the Jeneberang River. The reason is that this charming waterfall is hidden in the upstream of the Jeneberang River. The road to the location of Jeneberang Waterfall is quite challenging. You also have to pass through the river rocks and down the cave with high cliffs. Along the way, your eyes will be spoiled with natural rocks covered with plants. You just pay an entrance ticket worth Rp10,000 and you will be satisfied to explore this exotic waterfall. The best time to visit Jeneberang Waterfall is during the dry season, because the river current is not too heavy.

World Bank's Executive Directors on Saturday (11/9) approved the 380 million USD loan for the development of the first pumped storage hydropower plant in Indonesia. This 1,040 megawatt power plant is located in the upstream of Cisokan River between Jakarta and Bandung.

World Bank's Director for Indonesia and Timor Leste Satu Kahkonen in their official statement on Saturday said this project showed a turning point in the road to decarbonization in Indonesia. She added the World Bank will keep supporting Indonesia in achieving a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive development so that it benefits the Indonesian people in the present and in the future.

The hydropower plant development aims to increase the power plant capacity during the peak load, while supporting energy transition and achieving the decarbonisation target. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif said, Indonesian government is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emission, among many through sustainable energy development, energy conservation effort, and clean energy technology use.

The minister further explained that the reduced emission from the energy sector was supported by many actions such as power procurement from sustainable power plants, and energy efficiency. More than 80 percent of electric power produced for the Java-Bali network, which provides power for 70 percent of Indonesians, comes from fossil fuel.

Arifin Tasrif said, the important effort to support decarbonization is developing an energy storage facility which allows integrating renewable energy into the power network. The pumped storage hydropower plant plays a key role in this approach.

Therefore Arifin said the facility potentially gives a significant increase in power plant capacity to fulfill the needs during the peak load. The same facility will provide a great storage capacity that allows renewable energy absorption in a greater amount, while reducing the transmission networks load.

As a result, a more eco-friendly and reliable power plant can benefit the consumers in Java and Bali.
