Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on coordination and cooperation in the context of supporting the implementation of duties and functions of the energy and mineral resources, as well as environment and forestry sector, in Jakarta Monday (Apr 29). In a press conference held at the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Monday (Apr29), Minister Siti Nurbaya mentioned the points that become the focus of the cooperation.
"There are a number of points that specifically mentioned in its scope, namely the implementation of forest reclamation and rehabilitation of watersheds by holders of using license of forest areas. Then controlling of licensing arrangements of forest areas, and synchronizing the use of forest areas for energy and mining activities. In the conservation area there are around 20 gigawatts of geothermal sources. So, we have agreed to support energy from geothermal, by still maintaining preservation" Minister Siti said.
Minister Siti Nurbaya added that regarding climate change control and the implementation of National Determined Contribution (NDC) and energy, the Indonesian government has committed to reduce emissions by 29% through its own efforts and 41% with international assistance. This Memorandum of Understanding is also very strategic value, because it will initiate a cooperation between the apparatus that has been implemented so far. President Joko Widodo mention about the complication of permit investment system in Indonesia. It was stated by the President when opening the the 23rd Indonesian Notary Association on Tuesday afternoon (23/4) in Presidential Palace, Bogor, West Java. In his welcoming speech President admitted he still received many complaints from foreign investors about the difficulty to invest in Indonesia. According to President, Indonesia has made huge progress on the investment easiness for foreign investors. The difficulty is attached to the permit beurocracy makes many of them cancelled the investment.
"Complicated mean long time. Complicated means more money to pay. These are the problems that I always heard from foreign investors that want to invest in Indonesia. What is this mean? Our execution is slow. The problems is in our self. To many rules, to many permits to make it makes them who already entered get out again. It's not 12345. I've heard many from them" President said.
Based on world bank survey, the easy level of investing in Indonesia has made significant progress to be 72 from 120. According to Jokowi, it should be able to increase foreign investment value in Indonesia that will be impacted Indonesian economy growth. Directorate General of Culture, the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture in cooperation with Egyptian Embassy in Indonesia held a Photos exhibition with the theme Faces of Indonesia in the eyes of Ambassador of Egypt at the Proclamation museum Jakarta on Tuesday (April 23). The Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia, Ahmed Amr Ahmed Moawad expressed his admirationby saying that faces of Indonesian peopleare powerful. It shows what have they seen in life and what they want to see in the future.
"Because they are very nice people, they are nice at art and nice in the features. So it's my pleasure to see their faces and also my pleasure captured the moment which I believed could have been one of the most nices moment for me to see their faces. And the expression of these faces to me are very powerful it shows what they see in life and what they saw in life and what they want to see in the rest of their life" Ambassador Moawad said.
On the same occasion Director General of Culture of the Education and Culture Ministry, Hilman Farid said that the Faces of Indonesia photos exhibition is the first step of culture cooperation between the two countries. President Joko Widodo officially opened the 21st international handicraft trade (INACRAFT) exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center on Wednesday (Apr 24). In his remarks, the President appreciated the improvement in the implementation of INACRAFT which continues to improve every year. These advancements include increasing production quality and capacity, as well as employment. Nevertheless, the President said, that Indonesian handicrafts only covered around 1.26 percent of the international market share. Therefore President Joko Widodo encourages the creative industries of Indonesia and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to continue to increase creativity and innovation, in developing products on the international market.
"we must continue to be innovative creative in opening the market and penetration of international market share, with handicraft products. We are looking for non-traditional markets, as well as improving the quality of Indonesian products, since the international markets also like Indonesian brands" President said.
