Committed to ESG, Pertamina wins six 2021 Corporate Emission awards -
Pertamina affirms its commitment to implementing Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13 climate change, by supporting government programs to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that cause global warming.
According to the baseline that was set for 10 years from 2010- 2020, Pertamina Group has achieved emission reduction by 27.08%, or exceeded the target of 26% during that time.
The realization of that reduction was achieved through the emission reduction measures for operations and production activities, including the initiative to utilize flare gas and Langit Biru Program, which encourages people to use low-carbon emission fuels.
Based on the sustainable achievements and efforts, Pertamina Group won 6 awards Corporate Emission 2021, namely the Green Elite Category for Corporate Emission Reduction for Non-Banking BUMN Sector and Gold Plus for Transparency in Calculating Emissions for the Non-Banking BUMN Sector.
Four other awards were received by Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN). They were the Green Elite Category for Emissions Reduction for Non-Banking Issuers, Corporate Emission Reduction for the Non-Banking BUMN, Transparency in Calculating Corporate Emissions for the Non-Banking Issuer Sector in the Silver Plus Category and Transparency in Calculating Corporate Emissions in the Non-Banking BUMN Sector Category Platinum Plus.
The 2021 Corporate Emission Award organized virtually on April 29, 2021 by Investor Magazine and Berita Satu Media Holding in collaboration with PT Bumi Global Karbon (BGK).
"Companies that can reduce carbon emissions in a sustainable manner should be given appreciation because they have contributed to save the earth," said News Director Berita Satu Media Holdings (BSMH), Primus Dorimulu.
According to him, emission reduction will have positive impacts on the climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and also creat quality economic growth.
Primus explained that the awards were given in eight titles, namely Platinum Plus, Platinum, Gold Plus, Gold, Silver Plus, and Silver for companies that commited transparency in the disclosure of emission calculations and awards with the titles Green Elite and Green are given to companies that disclose their reduction in emissions during 2019.
“The calculation and reduction of emission are based on the data contained in 2019 sustainability report, which was published in 2020 and is available on the official website of each company. The assurance for the emission calculation is also a criterion to be considered in the assessment,” he said.
Acting Senior Vice President (SVP) Corporate Communication and Investor Relation (CCIR) PT Pertamina (Persero), Fajriyah Usman, welcome these awards and will continue to intensify the steps to reduce emissions to support the government's target of 29% by 2030.
“The 2021 Corporate Emission Award becomes evidence that the efforts made by Pertamina to reduce emissions are recognized by stakeholders and will be a motivation in pursuing the larger targets," said Fajriyah//ANT
