Indonesia would showcase its tourism and creative economy potential and its resilience amid the pandemic at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Dubai 2021, the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry/Tourism and Creative Economy Board said.

The ministry's deputy of marketing Nia Niscaya said in a statement here on Sunday, the event would be conducted at the Dubai World Trade Center in  Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on May 16-19.

"The exhibition is aimed at recovering and opening new chances for tourism and creative economy industry," Niscaya said.

The event, she added, would be followed by webinar and other online events on May 24-26.

"Through the event we would meet potential buyers for Indonesia's tourist destinations, especially Bali that would be first reopened after it is ready for the implementation of CHSE-based (Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability) health protocols.

The ministry would also ensure that people living around the tourist destinations have received COVID-19 vaccination.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahudin Uno said the exhibition is expected to revive tourism and creative economy operators' enthusiasm to continue innovating and adapting, especially to welcome foreign tourists after the reopening of international flights in the post-pandemic situation.

"To this end, we have to collaborate, adapt and innovate. This event is a concrete effort to reach the three goals as the collaboration between the government and industry must create mutual support to adapt to the new way of tourism business in the pandemic, and surely create new innovation to embrace the market in the post-pandemic situation by expanding Indonesia's tourism and creative economy coverage in international market," Uno said.

As many as 20 hotel and tourism operators would represent Indonesia in the event in Dubai. This year's promotion is focused on five super priority destinations namely Mandalika in Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara), Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Likupang (North Sulawesi), Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara) and Borobudur (Central Java).

The pavilion "Wonderful Indonesia" would also promote tourist destination in other regions in the country that have already applied stringent health protocols.

In addition to the 20 companies, 80 hotel and tourism operators would participate in an online exhibition from Bali on May 24-26.

"Our participation in the event is expected to grab potential transaction to revive Indonesia's tourism and creative economy sector. During the ATM Dubai 2019, Indonesia booked the potential transaction of Rp1.292 trillion," Niscaya said. (Antaranews)
