President Joko Widodo reviewed the implementation of mass COVID-19 vaccinations for the elderly, public service officers, workers, persons with disabilities, and the general public at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi City, West Java, Monday.
The President arrived at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium at around 08.30 WIB and was greeted by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, and Mayor of Bekasi Rahmat Efendi.
Arriving at the stadium, the President reviewed the patient screening table and monitored the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination service.
The former governor of DKI Jakarta greeted health workers and vaccination participants who were in a tent at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium.
Several vaccination participants asked for the opportunity to take pictures together when the President toured the vaccination service. The President complied with their request while still implementing health protocols.
According to the Bekasi Mayor's report, there were around 10,000 residents who signed up for the COVID-19 vaccination service at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium complex on Monday.
"We hope that with models like the one in Bekasi, they can be applied in places, districts, and other cities so that vaccinations can be in large quantities,” said the President.
The expansion of mass vaccination services is expected to accelerate the realization of community immunity against COVID-19.
"We hope that we can stop the spread of COVID-19," the President said.
The government plans to vaccinate against COVID-19 for 181.5 million citizens or about 70 percent of the entire population of Indonesia in order to realize community immunity. The vaccination is targeted to be completed in 2021. (Antaranews)
