Aircraft Movement Surpasses 60 Percent

Indonesian Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi said the aircraft movement in Indonesia in the second year of Covid-19 pandemic had been improving by reaching 60 percent than prior to the pandemic. That was stated by the minister in a written statement on Saturday (12/06).

On the same day, Minister Budi Karya visited Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to observe the aircraft movement. He explained that the aircraft movement at Soekarno-Hatta was above 50 percent than the normal period. He also said that this is an improvement from the early pandemic time when the movement was so low.

Minister Budi Karya Sumadi further elaborated that his side will make a policy to encourage aircraft movement increase amid the Covid-19 pandemic. He wanted to ensure the aircraft movement from Jakarta to some provinces, especially eastern Indonesia, must keep going regularly.

The minister added that the government had blocked seats for official travels to support national aviation. He said the block seat is temporary, only for the first six months. 

Besides, Minister Budi Karya kept reminding all aviation stakeholders to surely apply the health protocols consistently to curb the Covid-19 spread in Indonesia.

In the same visit to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Minister Budi Karya also visited the AirNav Indonesia Tower and office. He asked AirNav Indonesia to keep maintaining the flight navigation service and to ensure air connectivity across Indonesia running smoothly.
