Footwear products by Indonesian Small and Medium Enterprises have the opportunity to enter Nigerian market through the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) of the Ministry of Trade in Lagos. ITPC Lagos is exploring a trade agreement through virtual business matching. Director General of National Export Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, Didi Sumedi stated in an official statement, Thursday (17/6) that it is hoped that Indonesian Small and Medium Enterprises can take advantages of market opportunities in Nigeria through this business matching.

Head of ITPC Lagos, Hendro Jonathan said that Indonesian footwear products are on high demand because of their high quality. Indonesian exporters are expected to be able to produce products in accordance with the models demanded by Nigerian market. During the event, some information was conveyed to Indonesian Small and Medium Enterprises regarding the model, color, material, and price range of footwear products that are on demand in Nigeria. Hendro also emphasized that the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center also provided information about logistics routes and product specifications for formal, casual shoes, slippers and school shoes in Nigeria. According to Hendro, Nigeria is a promising market for Indonesia with a current population of more than 200 million people with the most ages being 0 to 29 years old. He also said that the total imports of Nigerian footwear products from the world in 2020 were 9 million US dollars and 75 percent is dominated by China. Conditions like this must be addressed properly so that Indonesian footwear exporters can seize market share of Nigerian footwear.
